... damn.

I... think I should maybe start finally picking up ASTRO CITY in trade paperback. I was always like, "Twenty bucks?! Maaaaaaaan..." but now methinks it would be a worthy investment.

The rest of you may commence the onslaught of "OH MY GOD HOW HAVE YOU NOT READ ASTRO CITY GET THEE TO A COMIC STORE YOUR COMIC GEEK CARD IS REVOKED." I'm... just gonna sit here for awhile and think about "The Nearness of You" for awhile.

Seriously, Hef. You won't regret it. I'll buy anything Astro City, sight unseen. My local comic shop guy just has to say "new Astro City, man", and I salivate like Pavlov's dog.

I've read the first two collections of Astro City, in which that story appears. It is THAT good. I also think you will like the initial Samaritan story in the first issue, and the story about the villain The Tinkerer (I'm sure I've got the wrong name here, but that was his m.o.) who pulls the perfect crime and then realizes no one knows he did it is also really good.

The Tarnished Angel and Confession are great damn stories. The other Astro City TPBs are excellent as well, of course, but those two are just fantastic stand-alone arcs.

Onslaught commmenced! (and not big psychic armor buffoon) Yup, Astro City is a great read-I love the emotion of it, the sly nostalgia of seeing all the reinterpretations of the comic characters we know and love. Kurt Busiek definitely knows a thing or two about life that could give numerous highly praised literary authors a run for their money, Brent Anderson's art is so, so skilled-it'a amazing all the characters that guy can draw!
I just finished reading the first Starman hardcover omnibus, enjoying getting back into that since I was never able to track down many of the trade paperbacks.
