THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES: A free, one-time only DC performance! ... Maybe!

So the folks at the Capital Fringe Festival *might* be able to organize an open dress rehearsal of THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES, free to everyone, sometime mid-February.

It'd take place at the theatre in the Fringe's office on New York Avenue, where ICONICITY was performed. It will be my chance to test out my newly revamped (and majorly improved!) original show before I take it to New York City for the Frigid Festival! I dearly need feedback and suggestions, and will be willing to ply folks with pizza to sweeten the deal.

I'd like to shoot for February 18th or 19th. That's a Wednesday and Thursday respectively, as on the 21st I have a preview performance in NYC. They'll let me know next Monday if anything is doable.

If so, I'll post the details here for anyone who wants to see the show, whether they've missed it the first time around or if they'd like to see how much it's truly grown and developed since last time! Really, I'm very proud of how it's shaped up. The original version was very much a young man's show. It's become something quite different, and I'm anxious to see how it plays.

As I am sure you know, I want to see it. But if it lands on a Thursday, it'll once again have to be another time.

Damn, I REALLY want to see it, but I'm going to be out of town that week.

Have you thought about pulling the monologues into a book, David Sedaris style?

Oddly, that was the original plan for these! I wrote a whole book of Monologues three years back! The original show was crafted out of stuff from the HEFNER MONOLOGUES book, actually. Now, I can't stand to read the damn thing.

At this point, I'm tempted to hold off on doing a book of them until I've done at least my third Monologues show, and workshopped it for at least a year in front of audiences. The only way my show's been able to grow and develop has been the hard way: in front of audiences over the past couple years.

If I can get the show about my family off the ground, it could make a nice third part, and I could get a very cool book comprised of these three shows. But not for the next couple years yet. I very much want to, and really I NEED to that. But more than ever, I want it to be done right.

And sadness that you can't be there! Well, who knows, they might only be able to squeeze me in a week earlier! They haven't let me know yet either way!
