On the heels of my triumphant-ish Orlando Fringe production of THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES: HOW HEFNERIAN,* two show-related things have occurred:

1.) Katee Sackhoff to be Typhoid Mary in a new DAREDEVIL movie? I wouldn't put too much stock in this story; pretty much the exact same thing happened when Traci Thoms came into my store to buy everything Misty Knight related, and we haven't heard a damn thing about a DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON movie since. Which is a shame, because how fucking awesome would Traci be as Misty?

2.) I have just briefly reunited with the great Emm Gryner an hour ago at the 9:30 Club. She wasn't headlining or even performing solo, sadly, but was instead playing piano and doing backup vocals for A Camp, a great band fronted by Nina Persson of the Cardigans. Emm was radiant and sweet as ever, and this time I only made a mild ass of myself. She expressed great interest in seeing my show, and hopefully--if I can figure out a good way to upload DVD video onto the internet--I'll be able to show it to her. And to all of you as well.

Now, for the two things I couldn't get much of from the past two weeks: booze and sleep.

*Which I may rename "HOW HEFNERIAN": A HEFNER MONOLOGUE to clear up confusion in future performances. Too many people thought I was just doing the same show over again, which boggles the mind considering that I'm far from the only performer who does multiple shows that way!

Did it never occur to anyone that maybe she just wanted to read some Daredevil? XD

Psh, EVERYONE knows that girls don't read comics!

But really, I love Typhoid Mary something fierce, but pretty much every single storyline she's ever been in (with a *strong* exception of stuff like the stuff collected in DEADPOOL CLASSIC vol. 2) is kinda terrible.

D'oh, I forgot! Though, given things like the collected Deadpool (presuming that it's comprised of comics released between 1993 and 1999), who can really blame girls?

It's issues #2 through 9 or something of Joe Kelly's DEADPOOL run. It's overpriced like fuck at $30, but for me, it was (barely) worth it. More people (and girls too ;p) should check out Kelly's run.

Let me know if you decide on a name change...it would be easy to rearrange the graphics for future shows!

I was kinda holding out hope that maybe she'd be playing TM in a *Deadpool* movie...but that was a long-shot. She and Ryan Reynolds are a whole library of fanfic, though, so maybe the Internet Sex Gods will hear my sacrifices prayers human sacrifices.

...

My mind just went to an exceedingly happy place. Honestly, that seems far more likely (while still being a distant speculation) than a DAREDEVIL reboot (which I'd love to see, particularly if they did BORN AGAIN). At least we know that a DEADPOOL movie actually IS happening, and that he and Typhoid have history!

Dear lord, let that be true.

wait, what? There's confirmation on a Deadpool movie and I didn't get a personalized, perfumed memo??

last I heard, RR had said he'd do one, but only if Marvel was willing to go canon (which I figured would never happen, esp. after seeing Origins).

He suggested perhaps a fourth-wall-shattering musical, which instantly made him one of the people I'd take to dinner if I could bring any ten. ;)

It all depended on how well WOLVERINE: ORIGINS did, and considering it was a hit (for better or for worse), DEADPOOL with Ryan has indeed been greenlit. Here's one link I found:

http://www.filmjunk.com/2009/05/06/ryan-reynolds-deadpool-spin-off-also-confirmed/

Word is that they're gonna go more canon with the origins, so they might retcon WOLVERINE or something. I understand Reynolds has been adamant in interviews over his intent to keep this Deadpool true to the comics with the fourth-wall-breaking and smart-assery and everything.

If the movie has Typhoid Mary AND a musical number, I may just explode from happy.

Well, it's *your* fault I just drooled all over your blog then. ;)

*droooooool*

(geez, I'd better get my Deadpool tattoo soon -- once there's a movie, it won't be old-school of me anymore!)
