I recently (finally) discovered the wonder and joy of playing vocals for ROCK BAND 2, so much so that I'm now seriously considering finally splurging and getting a Wii. Especially with this coming out:

It's the "multiple harmonies" feature that really sells it for me. That, and the fact that I bet I could play the drums on hard mode and probably still be all right. I love Ringo, don't get me wrong*, but how many times was he little more than a delightfully charming metronome?

Between this and Wii PUNCH-OUT!!!, I might just celebrate the end of my summer tour my buying a console sequestering myself in the Rehoboth Beach house for a month or three. It will be a well-earned hermitage.

ETA: Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

*He's number two on John Hefner's Immutable Laws of the Universe: 1.) Everybody loves pie, 2.) It's impossible to hate Ringo, and 3.) it sucks to be Harvey Dent.

Was also thinking of getting a console this summer with the money I don't have. Of course, fortunately, the main thing keeping me from making this dire mistake is the fact that I can't decide which one to get. Thus will spend summer finishing my novel instead. XD

Suits me fine! I probably won't be back in town until mid-October!

(If you ever wanna, you're welcome to come on down and bring the precious, precious Wii! We can go to the Dogfish Head brewery!)

Honestly, Wii just seems like the best one all-around in terms of sheer fun factor. But I don't follow the video game world as I am a recovering addict.

Oddly enough, I'm kind of tempted to do the same. I just told her about the multiple harmonies bit, and her reaction was a stunned, "... wwwwwwOOOWWWW."

All I want - ALL I WANT - is Dance Dance Revolution. Is that so wrong?

Hell girl, that's the ONLY reason I actually bought a used PS2 in the first place.

And yet ironically, I never did buy the version that had my very favorite DDR song:

Hm. Not really excited about playing this to be honest.

No? Not a Beatles fan?

I'm more of a Stones fan-- but I do enjoy a few Beatles tracks like "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". John is my favorite Beatle, and did I tell you that Yoko Ono is following ME?! on Twitter? Because she is.

That's fair, yeah. I think I feel about the Stones like you do about the Beatles. I find 90% of the White Album to just be one of the greatest albums I know in my limited, unreliable non-hipster knowledge of music.

And yeah, I saw! Craziness! But awesome (?)!

Got an XBox 360, and if Rock Band was the only thing I ever got for it, I'd be well pleased. Best party game ever. I'll have Beatles Rock Band by next year, so if you're in town again for Fringe? It's on.

Fuck yeah, I'm holding you to that. It's only fitting, as Orlando is where this new addiction started, over at the Fringe party. Ohhhh the Fringe party. Good (?) times, good (?) times...

Seriously, I fear the neighbors thought someone was getting brutally murdered when I did the vocals for the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage." Here's hoping for their sakes that "Helter Skelter" isn't on the game. On second thought, bring it the fuck ON.

Yeah-- I'm pretty sure that's a clear dealmaker/breaker for me. Then again, I subscribe entirely to the Nick Hornby/Chuck Klosterman/Henry Rollins school of thought where I judge someone entirely by their music collection or what they read.

Hell, girl, considering my lack of hip music tastes and propensity for people like Peter Gabriel and Meat Loaf, I didn't figure I was in any danger of having my status lowered any further!

I think I'm just a bit worn out on the Stones after fifteen years of listening to classic rock radio. Now, if--like the Beatles--some of the most brilliant stuff doesn't get radio play, I'd certainly be up for checking it out. But at heart, I'm a Beatles boy. The Stones are the greatest rock band ever, but the Beatles are the greatest Beatles ever.

But hell, I do the same evaluation/judging/condemning thing when it comes to people's tastes in movies and comics.

If Helter Skelter isn't on that game, I'm calling bullshit. 'Specially since I favor geetar. Mind you, if you fuck up that song, you have to sing James Brown's "Sex Machine" on Rock Band 2 as punishment.

You may think that's not punishment, and you'd be wrong.

I mostly get angry about music. I think I'm mostly pist because a friend me linked me to Gwenyth Paltrow's Goop newsletter with her "party jams". Ok-- we get it. You're a serious actress who married our generation's Bono you still have terrible taste in music. All of it is boring and predictable.

I COULD be a WAY better DJ than homegirl.

Seems there are only, like, 45 songs on the game, which seems like a seriously low number! That right there raises the ol' eyebrow.

Good lord, you make it sound so ominous.

If you have the money, I fully support getting a Wii, as they are a font of all that is joyful and happy.

New Metroid game? FUCK YES.

I mean, she already enjoys Rock Band 2 (I have it on X-box and she usually sings) but if there were more songs she knew how to sing and actually enjoyed, I think we'd have more fun. We're stuck playing "Pump It Up," "Psycho Killer," and "De-Luxe" most of the times. I liked Rock band 1's tracklist better.
