You're reading my mind!! I absolutely love Breyfogle's Batman! I've been planning a future Master Post on his early run, but it may be a little tiny while before I get the chance to do it right. Over on his website, http://www.normbreyfogle.com/ , he discusses how he was recently asked to pitch a new Batman book and eventually got turned down.
I'd have to revisit Nolan's work. I remember it having life to it but still leaving me a little cold. He seemed solid and consistent, but it may have been the inkers he had (Hanna?).
