Be Happy, Damn You!!!

Okay. No one likes a sulky Heffie. Even if I have every right in the world to be unhappy/grumpy/miserable/sullen/melancholic, even if my deepest instincts as an actor is to call every bit of attention to the world at large with a face and gesture that screams, "HEY EVERYBODY! LOOK AT ME! I'M IN PAIN!", even if my friends offer to help hear me out and all that, at the end of the day, no one likes a sulky Heffie. Least of all the party(ies) to whom the sulkiness is attributed. There's a reason Batman and Jacques don't have friends, you know.

So you know what? Fuck this misery. I need to be happy. Like MacMurphy said, "You gotta laugh, Chief! Especially when things ain't funny!" Because even if I have every right and reason to be miserable, no one likes it, and really, neither do I. So fuck that. I need to be happy. I need to put the happy face on and become the Heffie I was before all this shit got started. I need to be loud, laughing, joking, and playful again. I need to rule the Bennigans table with an iron fist once more!

I'm doing this in part to win over certain friends who I've lost due to my melancholy, because I value their friendship and I don't want to lose it if I can help it. But a voice is telling me that I need to do this for myself more than anyone else. Be happy! Damn, where's Stimpy's Happy Helmet when you need it?!

Of course, by doing this I could just be smearing the greasepaint over as a hollow attempt to cover the tears... laugh, Paligacci, laugh...! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA...!

On the other hand, a "sulky Heffie" sounds like the name of a drink. Hey, fiveseconddelay, what's in a Sulky Heffie? Let's mix one up at the cast party!

Your friends know how much it hurts; they've all been there multiple times. (Here I'm talking about your aging, decrepit friends. The embryos you go to school with don't know anything about anything.) And they'll be there for you because they know precisely how much you need them to be there.

"Putting on a happy face" will most likely make you feel better (at least according to psychology books), but I repeat what others have said. We love you - sulky or not.

Hmm . . . as self-appointed deputy drink mixer, how's this idea:

Sulking Heffie:

1/2 oz. vodka
1/4 oz. campari
1/2 oz. dark creme de cacao or godiva liqueur
Shake with ice. Strain.
Top with club soda in an old-fashioned glass.

Sweet, strong, just a little bitter. Like a sulking Heffie.
