thehefner1.) Playing Richard III, if only for one scene, was a fascinating new experience as an actor. As was having only a week to memorize the scene and about 1 hour to get the lines right. But Val and I totally click as actors, and by the next day when we (totally unblocked and unrehearsed) performed before her Shakespeare Day Camp class (she's an instructor... the talents of this woman continute to amaze me), we pulled it off nearly flawlessly.
I wish you Rudes could have been there to see Heffie play the crookback for once. My interpretation managed to veer away from the classic interpretations... you know, Olivier, McKellen, Duda, Bimp. As for Val, she gave an Anne that was at once strong but believeable in her seduction. Also, I couldn't get the ring off my finger, so I pulled a McKellen and pulled it off with my teeth. Love that ;) I hope from now on when I think of Anne I'll think of her.
2.) "The Dark Tower, Book III: The Wastelands" is pretty damn good. The first two, especially the second, were getting kinda worn and uninteresting. I was hoping for a huge epic, but so far it's kinda been like it's taken 2 books to get through five scenes. I got all hyped by "The Talisman," but now finally Book III is living up to the mystery and fantasy I'd been waiting for. All is well, and all is well, and all manner've things'll be well.
3.) I don't care who's playing Dr. Doom, just as long as his name is Victor Von Doom and he at least once shouts "CURSE YOU, RICHARDS!" I shall be content.
4.) After seeing that clip of Alfred Molina in "Boogie Nights" on "I Love the 90's," I've been obsessively listening to "Sister Christian." Bum-bum-bum-bum-BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM- MOTOR IT! BAM! WHAT'S YOUR PRICE FOR FLIGHT...?!
5.)"MOVIE YOU PEOPLE NEED TO SEE" ALERT : I showed Edd and Phoebe the movie My First Mister, starring Albert "Ex-poor-man's-Woody-Allen" Brooks and Leelee "imagine a well-fed, more attractive Helen Hunt with more acting ability" Sobieski. This films is basically Lost in Translation, only it came out in 2000 and is done much, much, MUCH better than that overrated bit of arthouse piffle. This movie is one of the most *brutal* tearjerkers I've ever seen. Everyone needs to see this.

Date: 2004-08-19 08:45 am (UTC)The show went off really well, by the way. The kids were really wonderful. I got warm fuzzy feelings all over, just watching 'em. My boss offered me a job for next year too, and she now wants to do a Shakespeare Festival this spring. Hooray, then, for I feel I have (and with your help) spread the Bard like the plague among the people. So thanks again. I'll see you...very soon indeed, won't I? Happy packing.
