You know, I live for the moments in any long-running storyline, be it comics or TV or books, when an "oh shit!" moment comes in the form of a returning character. Of course, with comics and novels, they have the luxury of having such returning characters come from OTHER books, which is so much more fun and surprising. Case in point from Dark Tower III:

"If you want to thank me- as I'm sure you do- you must say something an old acquaintance of mine used to say. He ended up betraying me, but he was a good friend for quite some time, anyway, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him. Say, 'My life for you,' Andrew- can you say that?"

Now, I don't know how many people here have read or seen "The Stand," so those last few words may be lost on you. As for me, with my geekgasm tendencies, I reacted as folks who know me well enough would expect me to react.

An a major squeeage was had by all. Can't wait to get "Insomnia" book on tape, because the idea of hearing Eli Wallach reading Stephen King must be explored.

My life for you john, my life for you.

Ofcourse i know what it means. I'm a massive King fan, atleast the old king, before the editors became afraid of him...
