Shhhhhhhhhit.
Oct. 18th, 2004 08:36 pmFrom a Neil Gaiman press conference:
GOOD OMENS will not be turned into a movie with Terry Gilliam as director. Terry Gilliam couldn't find a studio willing to do a comedy about the end of the world after 9/11. Johnny Depp was slated to play Crowley. The film company is talking to other directors.
***
It's even worse when you hear what "could have been." Hopefully if it ever happens, Depp'll stick with it. Because he would be fucking PERFECT.
Good Omens is one of my all-time favorite novels, alongside The Brothers Karamazov and Legion. It's even better when I read it aloud. I am continually looking for people who'll listen to me perform it.

Date: 2004-10-18 06:29 pm (UTC)I'm sorry, but why would 9/11 even be a factor in this? It reminds me of that group who wanted to ban The Two Towers until Dreamworks changed the name. Doesn't it irk you that decisions like these are made by people who have most likely never even read the book?
That's a shame, I can totally see Depp as Crowley.
"What's a 'Velvet Underground'?"
"You wouldn't like it."
