Man oh man I wish I had HBO. I'd heard about this movie, but I wasn't sure if it'd be released in the US. Well, if I can't find an HBO user with a tape player to record it, I'm sure it'll be out on video soon enough.
Check out the trailer here and prepare to be blown away.
I don't know how many people here, in this country and of my own generation, much less the generation before me, have seen any Peter Sellers movies. I imagine if any, they'd seen "Dr. Strangelove." But have they seen the Pink Panther movies, or the best Panther movie of them all, "A Shot in the Dark," which actually wasn't a Panther movie but it's still the greatest Closeau. When people think of Closeau, will they think of Steve Martin's upcoming remake? God help me. Seeing this trailer, makes you wonder why they didn't just get Geoffery Rush.
Short Peter Sellers must-see list: "A Shot in the Dark," "Dr. Strangelove," "The Mouse that Roared," and even though I've never gotten through it, I'm told "Being There" is his masterpiece.

I didn't much care for Being There when I saw it two decades ago, but I'm a very different person now. It's very, very 1970s, and most films age badly no matter what the period. I recall the acting, directing, and writing styles being very intrusive. But I recall Sellers giving a memorable performance; he was memorable in everything he was ever in.
