I am NOT playing Macbeth. Repeat, I am NOT playing Macbeth.

A freshman apparently turned in a very good audition, and after much deliberation Heather awared him the role. Even though she still would have loved to have seen me do it, it was mutually agreed that my not doing it would be for the best.

On one hand, I'm kind of sad that I won't be playing the role. Even if Mac's my least favorite of the four great tragedies, it's still a hell of a role, and doing a Shakespearian lead (especially a tragic one) is a dream for me. So I admit to being kinda sadness.

On the other hand, the schedule conflicts were impossible, I'd have been too tired to put up the best possible show I could, and I would have fucking killed myself.

So yeah. Works out for the best, methinks. See ya in THE CHERRY ORCHARD.

You really did have a wonderful audition, and I'm so glad you won't be killing yourself on our behalf this semester. Love ya John!

If Macbeth is the least favorite of four, what are the top 3?

King Lear, Hamlet, and Othello. I only count Macbeth because it is pretty-well universally considered a masterpiece (many consider it his most perfect play; I personally think the strengths in the above three far outweigh their flaws, and all result in a more moving, exhilerating experience, done right of course, than Macky-b).

So R&J doesn't make the cut? I always count it as five great tragedies.

Dang. The good news is, you've got tons of time for MackyB. You'll have other chances at it over the years, probably quite a ton of them. Now that you can't be my Sim Freshman anymore, you're going to be my Sim Young Actor, with decades ahead of you to play whatever the hell you want to play, without worrying about whether or not you're too old for it. ;-P

Ah, envy...

Yeah, and hey, like I said, it's hardly one of those dream roles I have, like Edgar, Lear, or Hamlet. At the very least, I hope I've proven to peeps like in the Rudes that I have the capability to do more than comic relief. I just wish I could have proven it was dramatic Shakespeare.
