We're back from NYC, and it's 2:11 in the morning. I dunno if I have rehearsal tomorrow... hmm, that'll be interesting if I do. Okee.
Saw Bernadette Peters in GYPSY. Wow. She is fantastic, well worth the 150.00 tix (total) me Ma and I spent for 'em. The next day we went to go see LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, starring Brian Dennehey, Vanessa Redgrave, and my personal fav of the three, Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Ah, Hoffman. If a movie is going to be made about me, I'd want him to play me. Even if he is much older, what of it? Yeah, the popularity of the play itself still eludes me (many consider it to be the greatest drama ever written by an American... WTF???). I still love and prefer THE ICEMAN COMETH, which is my greatest, most insane dream project.
Hey, that reminds me: go to a videostore now now now and rent the DVD of Jason Robards and Robert Redford in ICEMAN COMETH if they have it. It's an awesome play that is almost never performed just due to the sheer lenght. That, and it's a large cast with no small parts. Seriously, with the exception of, like, 2 people, every single person has enough lines for a lead role. How is that possible? See it for yourself. There really is NO BAD ROLE in that play.
Ah, the tangents of the sleep-deprived. Where was I? Ah, yes, next I saw the new Jules Feiffer play, A BAD FRIEND. A fascinating tragi-comedy about a teenage girl in the '50s at the height of McCarthyism, her parents radical Jewish "progressives" (i.e. Communists) who love Stalin, her only friends being an enigmatic painter and a sinister FBI agent. Speaking as a 20-year-old moderate capitalist whose bulk of Cold War education comes from James Bond flicks, it was pretty damn interesting. I shall have to discuss it with Feiffer when I call him this week.
Oh, yeah, I didn't mention. Jules Feiffer called me up Wednesday morning. Long story. In case you don't know who Feiffer is or what he is to me, suffice to say just imagine a living idol of yours calling you up one morning and leave it at that for now.
Sunday, we saw URINETOWN, a play with the worst title on Broadway, but I swear EVERY SINGLE RM needs to see this. Total RM humor. I won't say anything else.
Oh, by the way. I should clarify a couple things on the last post. First, I meant to say that I'm NOT attracted to that girl. At all. Not one bit. And yeah, believe me, if she tries to pursue contact with me, I will absolutely cut her off in the gentlest way I can. Because anyone who knows me knows the last thing I ever want to do, even to my enemies (if I had any), is hurt feelings. But until she makes the first move, I'm not gonna so much as twitch in her direction.
Random music thoughts: Download the music video for Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's "Hurt." It's awesome. More awesome than you'd expect. I think his version is even better than Trent's. And Trent wept when he saw the video, reportedly. Also, the Blue Man Group's latest album: took a listen to it, it rocks. Finally, anyone heard of Apocolyptica? They are four Finnish cello players who perform Metallica. On four cellos. Wow, they are unbelievable. I want to buy all three of their albums.
Right. I guess you all have figured out by now that this will often be a long-winded live journal. Because I have so much love to give to you, O me brothers and only friends. Good night (morning) and see you soon.
Oh, and Tazira, Happy Birthday. Wish I could have been there. Sounds like you had a blast. Remind me to sing the Birthday rap for you when next I see you (it's by the same guy who did the Boba Fett rap, if that's any incentive...)

Yeah, you're right

I was wondering about if that mightn't be a problem. Please let me know how I can go about the blocking process for specific users and I would greatly appreciate it. Thankee.

okay, here's the dealie, yo. (sorry bad play on words. i'll stop)

whatcha wanna do is friend people first off. under "your settings" click "your friends" off the lefthand menu. you can add 8 people at a time. look at a few RM friendlists; mine is a good example although i don't have every everybody. here are some people you'll wanna have (if i've forgotten anybody or mispelled your username please do chastise me)

disc_sophist = elise
jayel4192 = jay
treyhawk = rob
tompurdue = josh
tazira = jaki
777666 = erin
lariel = lissa
gawain = yancy
shadowcaptain = kevin
chickenhat = sean
thirdbase = nell
dicechan = tammy
frumple = jeff h
theblackotter= brett

and yours truly, 2sick2pray, melissa

who you by all means do not want on your friends list off mine is spencer_mato. guess who that is?

having done that its quite simple to click the "more options link" and set your privacy to friends only on your posts. voila. to do this on things you've already posted, just hit edit entries under "your journal" from the aforementioned lefthand menu. do most recent entry and proceed as if you were posting the message all brand new like.

blocking certain people on your friends list and not others is slightly trickier and a bit less, mmm, how shall we say, ethical, but i do it anyway from time to time because from time to time there's good reason. i'll save this lesson for later should you require it.
