CHESS, the musical's 20th Anniversary Concert! St. James Hall in Cardiff, Wales, on April 1st! Woot! Yeah! Um... erm... ah, Cardiff, yes. I remember Cardiff. Imagine an entire city populated by stereotypical thick-necked football hooligans. "OI! OI! OI! OI! OI!" Of course, Cardiff did have Warwick castle (eh, give me castle ruins anyday to that overblown ostentatious place) and the best bangers 'n mash I had my entire time abroad.

But it's CHESS! My favorite musical of all time! And not the American Broadway version either. I mean, I didn't think it was physically possible for something to sound castrated and masturbatory at the same time, but there you go.

If I ever had the money to blow, I would so finance a Cabaret-style overhaul of the show, bringing it back to its concept album roots, and retooling the script. So all I need is to become Sam Mendes and marry Kate Winslet, and we'll be set.

Sorry, I'm just trying to stave off a stuffy head, sore throat, and nagging guilt over the situation.

Dude... you don't go messin' with Cardiff.

There's a university in Cardiff. You know what came from there? The IMDB.

I've been using the IMDB since the Internet went over subatlantic cables and ran dog-slow and by God you didn't care because everything you wanted to know was in there. Then they made this American mirror of the thing and then it got bought out by Amazon but I will always love Cardiff, Wales, for the BEST FUCKIN' WEB SITE EVAR!!11oneoneeleven!!!

Yeah, imdb.com is great, but it's on the internet. You don't actually have to GO to Cardiff! ;p

Oh, and don't ever say something like "EVAR!!" again, or I shall be forced to turn you inside out over a very long period of time.

I'd love to hear you sing "Nobody's Side" someday. But be warned, if I got my way I'd make Florence less sympathetic and I'd cut out "Heaven Help My Heart," which is the weakest (IMO) song on the entire original concept album.

BTW, you thinkin' the Concept/London version or the American? Because the original is far superior (again, IMO). You can thank FSD for introducing me to it.

Good woman! I need to splurge and buy the CHESS LIVE IN SYDNEY CD sometime, with Tommy Korberg and all. It has the best version of Endgame I've ever heard, which just might be my favorite track. In introduced Misty to Chess and she loves it too. It was after Nobody Side's in our listening to it that she said, "I need to borrow this!" But yeah, glad to know you and I are of one mind on this. I'm especially partial to Opening Ceremony. Ah hell, I love the whole damn thing. Must make movie version! Must do it myself to make sure it's done right!

someone may have to teach me then. But be warned, I fear it may be too logical and calculating for my wishy-washy drama/english/humanities/philosophy major brian to handle.
