Misc. Thoughts: Clubbing, Comic Store, V, and Feiffer Monologue

1.) Hey tazira and other involved peeps, are plans still up for going to Nation after Midsummer tomorrow?

2.) Well shit. According to several sources, including Alan Moore himself, the V FOR VENDETTA movie is going to be every bit as horrible and shitty as Dave predicted it would be, since it's being made by the Matrix guys. Shit shit shit. Here I thought we were finally going to get a good Alan Moore movie after all the shitty ones (FROM HELL, LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, and possibly CONSTANTINE, if you count it, although I hear it's better than one'd expect... it's still Keanu as John Constantine, nothing can change that). Aintitcool posted this excerpt from the script, a conversation between V and Evey, and you don't even have to have read the original to "appreciate" this:

God, it burnses us. And then there's the ending, where apparently the masses rise up against the fascist government... with every single person wearing V's Guy Fawkes mask. Yes, because nothing says anarchy like everybody wearing the same uniform. Sorry I doubted you, Dave.

3.) Working at the Georgetown Big Planet Comics for the next three days, hooray! If you're in the area, drop on down and see me sometime! Comics and Heffie, what more could you ask for?

4.) I think I'm going to post some more Jules Feiffer stuff up here. I mean, some people post song lyrics, I should post some of his "poetry." Here's a Bernard Mergandeiler classic, which I may do as my monologue for the LOWT audition:

I always used to notice girls on the bus if they were writing in a notebook.
I'd figure they were writers and I'd want to go over and start a conversation about how I used to write a lot in school.
And I was going to do it again someday. And they'd be able to tell from the way I talked and my personal charm and everything that if I ever wanted to I could be a very good writer.
And just to show them I wasn't full of a lot of hot air, I'd say a few named to them, like "Bellow," and "Chabon," and "Frazier," and "Albee"... you know, so they'd begin to trust me and let me look at what they'd written.
And it would be great! Really great! Not quite as great as what I could write if I ever got around to it. Less great, but great nevertheless.
And I'd make a few criticisms, you know, about sentence structure, things that would show I knew what I was talking about. And when they'd get off the bus they'd be surprised because instead of getting off with them I'd say "goodbye."
And then they'd know I wasn't just a phony trying for a pickup and they'd be very impressed with me.
And that's all I'd want.
I just want somebody to be impressed with me.

Anyone wonder why I became infatuated with Feiffer's work a couple years ago? Hell, maybe I'll just do the cat monologue from VIGIL.

by best material, i mean most amusing. :P right now, it consists of rants, self-pity, or tittering nonsense about the weather. there's some good stuff in there, i suppose.

i have two pages left in what i'm writing in now. i plan on typing it up (somewhat unabridged) and giving it to those who are interested. i don't like being so secretive. and this year, people have misunderstood me so much that i think what i write may be a little insightful.

by the way, i found that double stuff oreos are my precious.

Ooh! I should be most interested in this. Still, elementary school? Going back kinda farish. I don't think I have any art or writing from those days left. And don't worry about being misunderstood from me, I don't even know you! Well, except for the fact that you could kick my ass if I came onto you, but that can be said for a lot of my friends. Especially a few of the girls I would try to come onto.

And if you put them together, you can make quadruple stuff! Me, I'd scoop the cream out and roll it into a ball. So gross, but so good. I should never have admitted this to you. Ah well, you're getting married, so I have nothing to lose.
