Misc. Thoughts: The "It's Good to be the John" edition

1.) I landed the lead role in the Rudes' KING JOHN, yay me! Between the talent of the cast itself and the, shall we say, "inventiveness" of director fiveseconddelay, (I love you), it will be very, very, very interesting to see this one take shape over the next few months. Go to www.rudemechanicals.com and plan the rest of your year accordingly. And hey, this is my first ever lead role in a Rudes show! Mwa-ha-ha! No more comic relief supporting roles for Heffie for at least three months, wa-hoo!

2.) Man, it's occurred to me that over these past few years I've become a total old fogie in that I have absolutely no desire to go out and see the fireworks. Hell, I barely could muster the enthusiasm when they had the fireworks show at WAC for commencement, and that was right there. At least I haven't fallen so far that I watch the fireworks on TV. Thank god. Eh, I'll spend the rest of my evening here eating burritos and watching "Beat" Takeshi Kitano flicks. Hmmm, love me that Takeshi (most of you probably know him as "the host on the right hand side" of Spike TV's Xtreme Action Challenge or whatever the hell it's called; the man is one of Tarantino's heroes. Rent "Hana-Bi/Fireworks" sometime, seriously).

3.) I mentioned this single comic page awhile ago, and someone was good enough to scan it in. It's moments like this, and I don't expect most of you to feel this, that remind me why I love comics and why I love these characters.

Batman takes time out of his busy schedule to keep a daily appointment with an old friend.

I actually think a certain pale blond chess-playing young lady would really appreciate this. She was the first person I thought of when I read it, and now that it's here, I've been toying with the idea of sending it to her. I probably won't, since distance is the best thing for now, but we'll see. Heck, maybe she'll see it here if she still takes peeks at my LJ every now and again. Regardless, I love this page. Nothing else needs to be said than what they show.
