That is indeed a very interesting review. Although I have to wonder how familiar Ebert is with the original characters; is he badmouthing the movie or the base characters themselves?

Still, a mightily amusing but sad review.

Unfortunately, what it reads like to me is a movie that expects to be the beginning of a series, and then spends much of its energy introducing itself rather than telling the story. Which is too bad, because I've always found origin stories to be the most interesting.

X-Men 1 suffered the same problem.
