I'm gonna do a comic book. I'm inspired. After seeing "American Speldor" again and rereading the autobiographical comics "Blankets" by Craig Thompson and "Unlikely" by "This American Life" contributor Jeffery Brown, as well as the work of Jules Feiffer, I'm going to put my energies, depression, neuroses, and whatnot into art. This may just be my salvation.
Unlike the Johnny Go novel or other possible summer projects I had, this is one I can actually do without research. I started work last night. So far, it's beginning with May Day 2004 and going on from there. We'll see what shape it takes.
Now the fun part will be if John Hefner can remember how to draw. Short answer? Nnnnnnnno. I wonder if there's a cartooning class for adults that I can take somewhere to kick-start my old abilities?
