Anyone know how to do screencaps for DVDs on the PC? Ctrl+PrtScrn doesn't work. It refuses to capture the actual image on the screen. I want to make a Doctor Octopus icon from the Spider-Man 2 DVD dang it!

I was gonna get a good night's sleep last night. And then "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" came on TV. And even though Mom was tired and really needed to sleep as well, we both just had to sit down and watch the whole motherfucking thing again because it's just that brilliant.

I hate working out. I really fucking do. But I still am forcing myself into the gym because it's the only thing that keeps me from being the Saaadest Heffie in the Whooooole World and writing angsty LJ entries.

I told a friend that I was going to Ren Faire as Bill the Butcher, and she responded, "I didn't see Gangs of New York but everyone told me it was awful. Was I mislead?" So of course I simply HAD to espouse all the brilliance that is Mr. Bill Cutting.

Ooh are you gonna make a Doc Ock, if he were a rich man, icon?

That is/was the hope. That, and the Day of the Dead DVDs have some great pics of Bub behind the scenes that simply HAVE to be employed for pics with Johnny Go!

*sigh* All I could figure out to do was take my faithful ol' digicam and take a picture of the screen. Wanted to make a "Wonka Scissorhands" icon (you might recall the scene -- it's in the trailer, when he cuts the ribbon for his factory). Still not happy with the result, but can tweak it later.

There has bloody well got to be a way. Everyone else can snap pics right from DVD screenshots, why bloody well can't I/we?

Really you need a capture program, like Dazzle. At least I think thats the name of the one I have. It has hardware (red, yellow, white wires) that plug into your TV or VCR or DVD player, and then captures to video. I dont think there is a way to take screenshots of DVDs on the PC.

The guys on DVD movie review websites take screenshots somehow. I just can't bloody well figure out how the heck they do it. Does a program like Dazzle enable you to transfer the screenshots onto PC? Never even heard of it.

Dazzle is a program that comes with a USB device. This device has USB on one end, and red/yellow/white cables at the other end. You plug it up, run the program, record as you like, and it neatly turns everyhing into the movie file type of your choice. Also lets you take screencaps.

It's a feature designed to keep you from pirating movies, but it's easy enough to circumvent. Try something like Mr. Captor

There are all sorts of frame-grabbing software out there. I haven't tried any of them, so I can't vouch. Most of them cost money, but the one I listed has a free trial.
