So let me run this one by you guys. I'm skeptical.

Mom called me up to tell me that one of her co-worker's husband, who's a cop, called to tell her that the police are all in full force this weekend? Why? Because according to the cop's wife, he said it's initiation weekend for the gangs (as Mom put it, the "cribs" and the "bloods"... I didn't know we even HAD crips and bloods here, much less outta LA). He said that according to their info, the gangs drive around with their headlights off. If some other helpful driver flashes their lights to let them know, the gangsters are instructed to kill everyone in that car.

Now...

That's what my mother said the wife said her husband said. All things considered, I'm not exactly ready to buy all this. She said she said he said that the cops aren't making an official announcement on this because they don't wanna cause a panic. Ok, so has anyone heard anything sorta like this at all? Even if it's not true, which I don't think is that likely (I mean, I never exactly thought of Wheaton as a hive of scum and villainy), but it's still so bizarre a thought that I wanted to bring it up.

Just is case, though, I'm not gonna flash my lights at anyone this weekend. Why poke fate in the eyeball, right?

Extra police this weekend are for possible protests in and around DC in connection with World Bank conference et al.

and there ARENT crips and bloods in this area, you're right about that. there are some other gangs, and a couple have even gained some real notice the past few years because they've grown.. but there is no 'initiation weekend' for gangs, so dont worry about the cops being out for that.

no, it happens, it *has* happened in my neck of the woods, a couple times that they can be sure of (because apparently said gangsters weren't so good at their job and the victims didn't die, but were just seriously injured.) but yeah, it couuuuld just be a wisconsin thing, but it happens.

and if i am ever to get my license, i will never ever flash my lights at anyone.
