Once I get out of work today, I'm going to buy myself some flowers. Purple tulips, I think would be nice, if I can find them. Then I'm gonna get myself a nice box of chocolates, or maybe I'll bake some turtle brownies. And then I think I'm gonna curl up in bed and watch REAL GENIUS. It's not like I have any other plans this evening, so I'm gonna make the most of it.

OMG, you're listening to that song. *sigh*

Yeah, y'know, in retrospect maybe it isn't smart to be alone on Valentine's Day and listening to an entire album of the guy who did the theme for CLOSER.

Of course, playing sad depressing music at a comic book store sort of adds to the ambiance and future-biopic-soundtrack vibe.

*laughing at song choice* Rice is a talented man, though. :-)

Sounds like a good day. I think I'm going to curl up with Batman Begins tonight. "I've got to get me one of those." ;-)

*hugs*

OK, it's a deal. :-) Maybe we won't wait until a Valentine's Day when I can be in DC without missing work, 'cause that would be several years.
;-) We'll just work on when I'm getting back (you're of course always welcome in Houston, too!).

Heh, understood. We don't need Valentine's Day to hang and watch Batman. Maybe I might take this excuse to come visit you one of these days. I've never been to Texas. And I will hopefully have a play going up in the coming few months (directing, not acting).

Man. I can't think of anyone else I'd want to be my date to go see ULTRAVIOLET. It looks so dumb, but it's by the EQUILIBRIUM guy and it looks so pretty!

Yay on all counts (except for the never having been to Texas part...to that I say, "come on down!")! Do we know yet which play?

What a nice compliment! I'd never heard of it until now, but yeah, looks very pretty. Wimmer knows how to make pretty movies. :-)

The play will be VIGIL, a Canadian pitch-black comedy. It's one of my all-time favorites. I produced and performed in it for my senior thesis last year. We're still trying to figure out when the hell would be the best time to put it up.

You hadn't even heard of ULTRAVIOLET? Yeah, it looks really dumb and Milla Jovovich's torso in the poster kinda frightens me, but it also looks chock full of Wimmer fight scene gloriousness. And it's coming out on my birthday (although that day I'll hopefully be at the AFI watching the original 1933 remastered cut of KING KONG on the big screen)!

Nice. Keep me posted. :-)

Mmm, Wimmer fight scene gloriousness. Should be great, even without my beautiful clerics. And that sounds like a good way to spend a birthday!

Don't buy yourself flowers on Valentine's Day. Do it on Arbor Day. Or Groundhog Day. You might think that it sounds like acceptance, but it's really just a way of wallowing in the bitterness.

Acceptance is when you buy yourself flowers because you want flowers, not because the calendar tells you that today is the day to have flowers.

Actually, I'm feeling pretty damn good today. I'm not bitter at all, for the first Valentine's Day since I can remember. With all the talk of flowers and such, I'm just thinking, "Hmm, flowers might actually be nice."

"I don't mind going to weddings or anything, as long as it's not my own, I'l.. I'l show up, but uh, I've always been kind of partial to calling myself up on the phone, asking myself out... oh, you call yourself up too, huh?"

Might I suggest Track 7 (It doesn't have a title, it's the intro to "Better Off Without a Wife") of Nighthawks at the Diner by Tom Waits as accompaniment to this Valentine's Day plan?

Waits is fit for all occasions. V-Day, Groundhog Day, Weddings, Ramadan...

Well, it's better than doing homework in your pajamas in front of your laptop in your freezing room. Today, bitterness shall be mine!!! And I'm not talking about in chocolate form!!!! >.

Damn, that sounds like the absolute perfect Valentine's Day.

I bought flowers for myself, too, actually. Purple Lianthus or something like that that looks like a purple rose.

VD-- heh!
