Mom and Gordon are going away for the week, which means I have the house all to myself. And the dogs. And my Grandmother. *shudder* Man, times like this I could really go for curling up in bed with a pretty girl to watch horror movies.

Hey! Anyone want to have a night out to go see Mamet's BOSTON MARRIAGE with me in DC? It's a brilliant farce, great for lovers of burlesque, Oscar Wilde, and of course Mamet himself. I loved it so much, I'd totally love to see it again, and help support local theatre!

We can go to the bar next door. They have tater tots!!!

Tell me more about the play. I heart burlesque, Wilde, Mamet, local theater, and tater tots!

It's a play that looks to be a play about manners in the style of Oscar Wilde, except it's about two women (one lesbian, one bisexual). The bisexual one is happilly being the mistress of a married man while her long-time lesbian ladyfriend needs her help in trying to woo a beautiful young teenage girl, all set in Victorian era America. It's a ridiculous farce, and Kate Norris is my personal favorite actress in DC. She's amazing and brilliant here. The whole thing is done with a burlesque style framing sequence, with a singer (she played Magenta, to give you an idea what kind of singer) singing old-timey classics in burlesque style.

The bar next to the theatre is serves tater tots, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and other yummy things.

The theatre itself is closing its doors after this show to be turned into a bar, but there's a slight chance it might be saved. Let's go support it!

You game?

Umm... if it's playing Sunday or Monday, that'd be awesome. If not then, then maybe next Wednesday or Thursday?

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, so no boozin' and partayin' for me. But, Sun/Mon/Thurs sound good.

Although I am not a pretty girl...and Boston Marriage is not a horror movie, I would be up for it...but I'm going to Birthday Ball this weekend with Kimmy.

Ach, yes, that is the higher priority. If I had a pretty girl of my own, I would totally be there as well. As it stands, I have no desire to drive allll the way up and shell out thirty bucks to slow-dance alone.

Have a grand time, and who knows? Mayhaps you can take a rain check on the play. We might end up going later in the week.

Speaking of which, hey remember that time we danced at last year's Birthday Ball and everyone stared because you started acting out the song and flailing on the floor?
Good times. ;-)

Dammit, that play sounds good and tater tots are always great food to play with, but I live in another country!

If a group ends up going on Monday, and there is a show (are they dark Mondays or no?) I might be interested...sadly Sunday and Weds onwards are C.o.E. dedicated :)

I'll look into Monday then, see if the theatre isn't dark.

Revise mine for the last sentance being, "I just can't get out of the damn house. Plus I be ill. x_x"

yeah i know, that really was my bad year, for some reason. i guess we all have times like that (at last i hope we all have "a bad year" or something. luckily i think that i have already more or less worn myself out of drinking, and now it's pretty much a glass of wine here, a pint of beer there (being in denmark, it's the usual..) actually, i'm kind of glad i'm sick of being drunk, because it's not good for me, and i'm glad it's not really an issue for me anymore (even though that realy puts a damper on me and emily's hanging out time, because she is devestated that i don't get smashed anymore, because drinking is her livlihood... woo...)

I surely hope so. And if not, I sincerely hope never to be anywhere close to that again.

and by that, i take it you're referring to me being drunk? or just in general? because forgive me if i'm wrong, but i guess i didn't really think we'd be seeing much of each other to begin with, let alone drunkenly

By that I mean you and I are poison for each other in anything other than the best of circumstances, and when you throw alcohol into that situation... well, we both know how alcohol affects us both in our own ways.

And understand my dear, but everytime we even chat via IM it feels a bit like russian roulette. Whether or not we even ever see each other physically isn't the point. And at the first sign of shit happening like the shit that happened last semester, I may just cut and run and never look back. I already did that with someone else in my life.

Is what I guess I'm trying to say here. I never, ever, ever want to be in any way involved, even *perhiperally*, to a situation like that again. Even if I feel like I'm doomed to keep running into alcohol throughout my life because it's what I'm attracted to and what's attracted to me. If that makes sense.
