The good news is, it looks like "Vigil" is ready to go forward! The iffy news is, I need help and direction.

Hey theatre peoples, what venue options do I have for performing VIGIL? It's a small play, one that would play better in a smaller black box than in something like the Rudes' mainstage. Like, do I have any other options besides DCAC and Greenbelt Arts Center? And are those two even options at all? GAC is probably already booked for the next three-five months, rigth? I'm kinda new at this whole thing and am in need of guidance.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] aeonata and [livejournal.com profile] jcsbimp, tell me what dates are particular good or out for you. Aeonata, I know your schedule is filling up, so it looks like we may be planning around you (and whatever performance spaces we can get).

Help would be much, much appreciated. Thankee.

Another venue ...

... would be Gaithersburg Arts Barn. Small 99-seat theatre, nice backstage area, will split box office 50-50, will advertise locally and take care of tickets, says to have a built-in audience of 200-300 people.

I can pass on contact information, if you would like.

I could provide my apartment. I can't think of a smaller space. Plus, it's located centrally, in sunny suburban Columbia. All I ask is 20% of the take. Okay, 15%. We'll talk.

GAC has several open weekends. Also, the Rudes may have the place that we're doing Midsummer, if we ever settle on it.

There's the Warehouse theater in DC. Bowie has a magnificent new theater. And lots of others. Performance venues are never the problem. Main stage rehearsal venues are the problem.

Keep me and Alan posted as to whether we do secure that space or not. I mean, I'm sure we'll all be posted if that gloriousness happens. But especially us, please!

Do you have links for the Bowie theater or any other particularly suggested venues? As someone who has actually seen this play, is Warehouse a good choice to investigate?

Warehouse would be excellent; it's a nice little 50 seater, black box. (That's in front. In back there's a magnificent 200 seat theater, but at $1,300 a week, three week minimum...) Performing at Warehouse is a lot like DCAC; it's a bit nicer and in a marginally less crowded part of town.

Bowie: http://www.bowieartscenter.com/. The web site is terrible. I haven't been inside, but I think that it's a theater on the order of what you were used to working in at college. So it probably costs a small fortune.

I'm sure Laurel Mill is hurting for money.

But mostly I really think you'll like this space in Laurel. And if it becomes our home, we're going to want to keep it filled with second stage shows right about the time you're ready.

DCAC is generally open three to four months out (I'm assuming that's the kind of schedule you are looking for). You can see their calendar for the next three months at least. They like the Rudes there so you're chances of getting approved are pretty good. Email me if you have questions, I can probably help you.

My schedule also needs to revolve around Midsummer, but as I'm Egeus, am somewhat flexible (i.e., it's not a huge role). Whatever scenes I'm in, [livejournal.com profile] aeonata is also in, at least for the most part, so work around her times/dates, and I think we'll be okay.
