Why the hell does Larry the Cable Guy have a career? The man isn't fit to lick the shit off of Ron White's boots. Not only is he going to befoul the new Pixar movie, but he's now starring in a full-length vehicle, HEALTH INSPECTOR. A whole movie. Starring Larry the Cable Guy.

Surely God is dead, and the stench rising from His corpse has settled and condensed into the form of movies like this.

Ya know, I sold my Pixar stock when I saw the trailer for Cars. I just don't think it's gonna work.

Yeah, that trailer really... really was lacking the usual Pixar magic.

Thank you

I don't think anyone else could have summarized this matter so correctly, so comprehensively, so colorfully. ::bowing in awe and amazement at the eloquence of [livejournal.com profile] cats_n_crying::

I'm so totally with you (the icon is of course directed at the studios and not at you)! When I saw the commercial for Health Inspector, I thought, "Dear Lord, no!"

In related news, today I saw a girl wearing a shirt that said, "I Love Tony Montana," complete with the requisite picture. I almost asked her why. ;-)

I'm just as depressed as you are, pal.

you can tell how bad a 'comic' is by how often he needs to use a filler line like 'getter done!". The last time I saw him it was every other line.

He sucks. purile and simple.

Right. You've lost me. "Larry the Cable Guy"?

He's one of the quartet known as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Evingal, and the only truly talented one of the bunch, Ron White. White's fucking brilliant. The other two can be amusing, but the hick-ness is kind of annoying. But that's the theme of the whole group, that they're these blue collar redneck types.

But Larry the Cable Guy is the most aborrent of the troupe, certainly the least deserving of a career. My friend Dave used to say he hoped Larry the Cable Guy was just an act, that such a person didn't really exist. I dunno how prevelant it is in Canadaland, but Larry's insufferable catchphrase "Git-R-Done" has infiltrated our very way of life. And now he has his own movie coming out: LARRY THE CABLE GUY- HEALTH INSPECTOR.

You're the lucky one for being spared.

Jeff Foxworthy I'd head of. *puzzled* In these parts, we used to have a preponderence of "GIV'ER"... This guy sounds seriously annoying.

*takes her luck where she can find it*

David Cross seems to agree with you. Perhaps you'll enjoy this open letter he wrote to Larry in December, as well as subsequent backlash (links in the sidebar):

I've never been a huge David Cross fan, but my heart leapt with joy upon reading.

Yeah, I too am no great David Cross fan, but that was pretty excellent. Thanks for pointing it my way!

Ok, now I've seen Bill perform live, and while this may brand me as an unsophisticated hick, I thought he was pretty damn funny. Larry I can do without though.

No, no, I think he is funny. Not brilliant, nothing I'd want to pay money for personally, but funny. Although what the HELL does "Here's your sign" mean?!

"Here's Your Sign"

It stems from a bit in which he stated that stupid people should wear signs identifying themselves as such so everyone else knows with whom they're dealing. It became a running bit tacked on to a story of someone doing something stupid.

All right, finally, an explanation. I've seen the bit several times, but I never got what the hell "sign" he was talking about.

Yeah, it makes more sense when you're aware of the original bit. I first saw it years ago on HBO or Comedy Central or something.

I hate hate hate Dan Whitney or Larry the Cable Guy as he's better known. His act is total shit and he's just a private school boy who created this deliberately fucking ignorant stereotype character that should be insulting to the real blue collar people he claims to represent. But instead they fork over money for overpriced shows and merchandise and they eat this shit up. Arrgh! Like it already isn't bad enough that we had the same thing basically happen with Bush. I don't care if I sound like some elitist liberal snob, or whatever the insult is, but I really hate people who flaunt their ignorance like it is a badge of honor.

Ron White is cool though and pretty funny. The bit he does where he talks about buying his wife a new dog cracked me up.

Also, if you liked the David Cross article, you might be interested in reading the discussion that arose on metafilter when it got posted there. You can read it here.

OK, Pixar is doing a film on animated NASCAR. At that point, why do you bother to keep reading? Let me repeat the operative word - NASCAR. I guess David Hyde Pierce, Anthony Hopkins, and Judi Dench had other projects.

See, a NASCAR film with those actors, that coulda been interesting. I mean, they *did* get Owen Wilson and Paul Newman. Still, meh. NASCAR.
