oh, the merry adventures we've had

I did another audition today, this one for Trumpet Vine Theatre's THE DAVID DANCE. I dunno where the hell they found my resume, but they called me up last week. It's a pretty nice gay theatre, and the play itself is ok from what I've read, and the part might be a nice change of pace for me. But if I don't get it, no sweat. The director was much nicer than most other directors for whom I have ever auditioned.

Still haven't heard back from the DOG MEETS GOD audition. Ah well, again, no sweat. Woulda been fun, though.

The Bub and Johnny comic script (first draft) is nearly complete. I still need to think up fun little adventures that Bub and Johnny might have had, just to fill a couple pages. Like, "Hey Bub, remember when we faced down Pissbeard the Pirate, Scourge of New York Harbor?" or "Hey Bub, remember when we met Leatherman, the weird wandering hobo?" or maybe "Hey Bub, remember I challenged myself to a martini drinking contest?" Just little "adventures" that would look good in flashback for a single panel.

Know what's fun? Coming near the end of your script for the adventures of a delusional lounge singer and his zombie pal, all while sipping away at a fresh glass of Jack Daniels on the rocks. Y'know, to get in character. Right.

Yeah, you know, where you go to bring an expensive photograph of yourself along with your contact information, and give it to a complete stranger for no cost to them, then stand in a line for hours with several thousand other people, all for the chance to use the degree that you spent a ton of money/your youth/your self-esteem and a ton of effort on, so that you might work for below minimum wage and no benefits, to stand around in the background of some film where someone who is the good-looking but talentless progeny of someone famous, rich, and/or connected gets to act.

Oh, yeah. They're filming some of the city scenes in Cleveland. So they held auditions here for extras. All other casting took place in California, through agencies. I'm hoping I get in, but I'm not counting on anything. Go read my lj for more details.
