I'm so tempted to make an icon of the above image.

Pyro's looking a bit scruffy here. I wouldn't even have recognized him in the commotion.

I'm glad he, like the others, were in and out so quickly, otherwise I would have been sorely, sorely tempted to see what he would have done if I mentioned ANIMORPHS.
I didn't manage to get any autographs or even a picture of Callisto. It was all so fast. My copies of X2 and 25TH HOUR went unsigned. Way we heard it, Anna wanted to spend as little time at the store as possible. Even the Ad people who were helping us out were muttering the word "diva" back and forth.
I dunno, I understand if they're tired and all, whatever. I'd have liked them to have been sociable and such, but they seemed cool enough for the five minutes they were in and out, speed-autographing and all.
I just sorta got a mindset of, "Ok, what is the absolute minimum we have to do to keep up our end of the contractual agreement?" Kinda like Krusty the Clown knocking off one-liners in the recording booth for talking Krusty dolls in less than ten seconds and then leaving. Or a celebrity doing community service. "A comic book store? Can't I just pick trash off the freeway?"
Still, all and all, an interesting, if not fun, day.
Oh hell, one more time, the original image.

Whether she wanted to be there or not (she's hardly smiling, hehe!), or maybe it's even funnier if she didn't, but man, one way or another that picture made my day.

Date: 2006-05-11 09:32 pm (UTC)My work here is done.
Dance, monkey, dance!
Was Ms. Paquin getting a colonoscopy done while you were posing?
I have pictures of me with Richard Roundtree (while the man was recovering from cancer, which we did not know at the time of the convention, because he didn't tell ANYbody until later), and he looks goddamned ORGASMIC in comparison!

Date: 2006-05-11 09:35 pm (UTC)Sorry it was a rush through, and yeah, they may have been tired. But at least they weren't down and out rude?

Date: 2006-05-12 04:38 am (UTC)But seriously, everytime I go there I end up ranting for at least a good half hour. Like Morrison writing for Batman.
But honestly, I miss Bobby. I just hate what they keep doing to his character. Theoretically, he's one of the strongest mutants that they have-- honestly.

Date: 2006-05-12 04:48 am (UTC)You didn't miss too much for Free Comic Book Day. DC gave away Batman/Superman #1. You want ranting, oh man, I can rant a blue streak about Jeph Loeb. Grr.
Well, Bobby's not really gone. He got his powers back pretty quickly. I personally hate what they're doing with any of the X-Men half the time. Scratch that, replace "any of the X-Men" with "the vast majority of all comics." For I am a grumpy fanboy, as you've likely figured out.
I really do hope I can catch you in a match one day. Unless I ever make it out there, maybe if I ever do my freaky beatnik road trip, you must let me know if you ever decide to take on, like, the DC team over here.

Date: 2006-05-12 05:23 am (UTC)Did I mention he's a Talia fanboy? Oy vey.
I like Loeb when he's saddled with Sale.
Yea, not a big fan of the House of M spiel. Hey-- remember when it was called the High Evolutionary? No? Just me, then? Oh, ok.
Am looking forward to Civil War though.
PS. I'm just upset they messed with Chamber's and Jubilee's powers (and then aged her?!). I've heard rumors of a zombie!Iceman in Marvel Zombies. Verify this. I haven't been able to myself lately.

Date: 2006-05-12 02:54 pm (UTC)High Evolutionary? Can't say I've heard of it, but I'm not surprised. All of Bendis' and company's latest huge event crossovers have just been pale rip-offs of previous Marvel stories (much as I disliked Infinite Crisis, Superboy punching reality was a new one, I'll give them that).
I am interested in Civil War, even though it's wildly out of character for Tony and Reed (both of whom were against mutant registration, right?), and Millar seems to forget that S.H.I.E.L.D. is a U.N. outfit, not the United States.
As for zombie!iceman, from what I could see the only such instance of one is on the cover of Marvel Zombies #4, I think it was, but not in the actual book itself. So maybe we'll see him in the rumored sequel!

sounds like an interesting day, at least.
sad about the lack of a callisto pic.. would have been curious to see what she looks like when she isnt dressed as someone who doesnt look like Patti Smith.

Date: 2006-05-11 10:29 pm (UTC)Yeah, I read your LJ about it! (I read your LJ, you know)
I was unable to secure free schwag for you. Unless, of course, you'd like a free Donald Duck or Owly comic?

Owly is supposed to be interesting, isnt it?

We Canadians have strange powers. Especially Canadian ex-Animorphs.
