First of all, the KING ARTHUR trailer...

http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/kingarthur.html

Haven't seeing it yet since my internet connection stinks, but according to aintitcoolnews.com, it's boring and yawn-inducing. What say you? I mean, how bad can a movie with Clive Owen be? Oh wait, didn't "Beyond Borders" suck monkey balls?

And in other news, Natalie Portman has annouced that she is talking with Luc Besson about doing a sequel to LEON (aka, THE PROFESSIONAL). Now, I'm anxious for Besson to make a new film (it's been, like, six years since the Joan of Arc thing) and yeah, Portman's hot and all, but she's no Kiera Knightley and sequels have a way of sucking donkey balls. Besides, without Jean Reno and Gary Oldman, what's the point?

Well...

The King Arthur trailer looks promising, but then again, so did Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions.

It's set in historic Britian, which means Roman-style armor, which looks rather cool. Merlin is more of a preachr and headology expert. Guinevere is a Pict (see [livejournal.com profile] jayel4192's icon) which puts Kiera in blue body paint, and that alone may be worth the price of admiission. The seigecraft involve trebuchets, which look acurate, but are not mentioned in written record until the 700's and were not in great use until the mid-12th century... wait, it's a movie with Kiera Knightley as a Pict. We'll assume they did some research. Good on them for building a bunch of trebuchets, too!

They were more widely used and named specifically as trebuchets in the mid-13th century, especially because of all the castles that were being built and needed to be seiged.

Descriptions of counter-weighted machines (as opposed to spring loaded catapults) that would launch large heavy objects exist in writings as early as the 700's, but only in description of what it does, not how it was built or what they were called.

But, Kiera in blue body paint. 'nuff said.

Yeah. The first medieval movie EVER where it's not about the castles and machinery for me. I do love rawhide sports bras. And have you see the shots of her with the bow??

Aw, hell, here's a link. enjoy. http://www.walkingindaydreams.com/
