I think I may need to get a website.

Not just for hosting the BUB AND JOHNNY GO comic, although that should be the primary goal of it for now. No, it occurs to me that I have a veritible shitload of projects finished, in progress, and planned, and I could certainly use a page to show 'em all off.

BUB AND JOHNNY GO
My full-length novel
Short fictional stories
Fanfiction
Hefner Monologues
Hefner Monologue videos (if I can get the frickin' iMovie to recognize the frickin' iSight camera)
Theatre work (including pictures, resume, etc)
And more, I'm sure...

'Course, problem is I wouldn't know the first place to start. I learned the hard way in Basics of Computing that I suck by way of design work, so I'd need the help of somebody. I don't have a ton of cash (oral surgery took a big chomp outta the finances), but I have some. Nothing fancy, just tasteful and, of course, functional.

Any help would be mightily appreciated, as always. You guys are always good for showing me the right direction and keeping me from shooting my foot.

hey -- i've been meaning to ask you ... you going to pimp the one acts? or should I? I think you'll get more response.

and i'm having someone at work design a website for me soon ... he might be interested in more free lance work ... and i think he's cheap.

I... think mayhaps we both should.

Hell, I hadn't even considered this. I've just been so wrapped up in everything, and this director has got me sooo on edge all the time. So yeah, maybe today or tomorrow, I'll get on that.

Hmm... coolies. That could be good.

Do not, do not, do NOT put your whole original novel or the entirety of the Monologues on the website. Publishing houses can't sell what you've already given away for free. Give sample chapters, but not the whole thing.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Microsoft Publisher (*innocent whistle*) you can choose a format, plug in a few things here and there, and away you'll go.

Whoops, I was unclear, I meant sample chapters but not the whole thing. Aye, doing the whole thing would be mad. I am bleary and tired now, but no fool, no.

I... wonder if I have Microsoft Publisher, mayhaps? Hrmm. Because if I don't, well, mayhaps I can somehow, some *way*, get my hands on it.

I've been thinking about webspace for all my music, vids, and writings (mostly essays and poetry and crap like that). does the same apply? i don't think i care as much about trying to do anything with this stuff in the future as i do (re)presenting my art and thought and stuff in a cohesive and perhaps even artful way. but this is far down the road... just thought it'd be good to learn about IP and copyrights from someone who apparently knows a thing or two...

sorry about your ankle blues, btw. it's the pits, i know. sprained the same ankle three spring breaks in a row (can you believe it?) Then later a summer or two later, i broke it but it was misdiagnosed as a sprain... quite the problem for quite some time, until they got me in a cast. it's still not quite right, ol' right ankle...

(sorry for the hijack, heff. i'm iranian, remember?)

I'll help. There's someone on my flist that does exquisite design work. I mean, she's ASTOUNDING, and I bet she'd dig doing it for you. Find me on AIM tonight and I'll hook you up with her, in the totally professional unsleazy kind of way.

I'm still waiting for Mary + Harvey, dude. WHEN?

Oh awesome, yay!

Sadly, the Mary/Harvey fic is gonna have to wait for the straight-up Harvey Dent origin fic I'm doing. I had to do it when I realized it would be ESSENTIAL to what I'd be doing with Mary/Harvey... and just what effects Typhoid would have on Two-Face.

The first chapter (18 Pages, single-spaced) is done, and I've started the second. This is gonna be a big one, but so far I'm really, really proud. Mayhaps you could take a look at it sometime?

Hot diggity damn! I'll clean up the first part a bit and send it your way, then!

I love me some capital letters. Mainly because I'm too lazy for italics.

My site is through tripod.com. I think it's only 5$ a month for the site (no ads) and 20$ a year for the domain (www.kathleencromie.com). I say 'I think' because I think I also accidentally signed up for a blog while I was there and still need to get that taken care of.

I've been very happy with it and it looks fab on a business card.

Did you design it yourself? It's a very cool-looking site, certainly better than anything I could pull off on my own.

That could too be very good. Thankee!

Yes, but it was easy. I took one of their templates for what I knew I wanted (a sidebar and the main page resting on a background) then picked the colors and found the background image of leaves myself.

The cool part is once you have your main layout figured you can then just copy and paste it as a template into new pages for the site. It's not hard for me to add new pages at all (except for that whole, finishing-the-projects-for-them thingie).

Hm! That doesn't sound so bad! Or hard! Sounds kinda akin to setting up my LJ!

Hmmm... very, very cool.
