Sorry to those who read my most recent LJ for the 30 seconds it was up before I promptly deleted it. No sooner do I discover the wonder and joy of the "copy link location" button than I discovered that some sites don't exactly like you linking directly to their images! Ah well, it's all part of my valuable education of slowly, slowly learning how the internet works. Phase three is profit!

But while I'm here anyway, let me just say to my comic reader friends: PICK UP THE SPIRIT # 1. Actually, if you can, pick up Batman/Spirit, which came out a couple weeks ago. Will Eisner's creation could not be in better hands than Darwyn Cooke (would that he were doing the Spirit movie rather than Frank Miller!). It's pure comic goodness, one of the few things to reaffirm my love of modern comics.

Also, while you're at it, pick up the latest issue of Detective Comics, which might be my single favorite issue of a comic to come out all year. THIS is the way Batman comics should be written! By which I mean, exactly like the Animated Series was.

The first issue of (Cooke's) The Spirit is out?! OMGMUSTBUYNOWOMGMUSTBUYNOW (can you tell I'm a little excited?) Yeah, Cooke has quickly become one of my favorite artists, and I adored B/S, even if the writing was confusing. (but then it wasn't Cooke writing, so that's okay) But the art was amazing.

I am totally excited about him working on the animated adaptation of New Frontier with Timm and co. It has the potential to be so brilliant that I can't even think of a appropriate metaphor to describe it.

Is the latest issue of Detective Comics the Joker one? Cause yeah, it was pretty darn good.

Yeah, I blame Loeb's storytelling. B/S is one of the rare times I was able to ignore his bullcrap (even if I do get such stirring dialogue like "I'm coming for you, Joker!").

Yes! New Frontier will hopefully be awesome. Plus, an animated version of one of one of the best versions of Hal Jordan? EEE!

And indeed, the Joker issue. Uniformly excellent; it's how the Joker, Batman comics, and comics in general should be written.
