It's alllllll comin' together...
Jan. 29th, 2004 01:15 amWelp, it's confirmed. I got a friend of mine, a friend whom I love and trust, agreed to direct me in my senior performance thesis of Morris Panych's VIGIL. Huzzah! I now have a director and my actress, the two main peeps I needed to really get this thing off the ground.
Meantime, my director Mike is working desperately to try to figure if he can somehow manage to direct URINETOWN for his thesis. I will do whatever I possibly can to help this dream of his become a reality, because this is a wonderful, wonderful show. And I wanna be Officer Lockstock real bad.
But as for VIGIL... I've been wanting to do this show so badly ever since I saw Floyd King do it at... I think it was the Studio Theater... and then I saw an interesting but lesser version of it in London. This is a character I really think I can do, it plays to many of my strengths but it's still gonna challenge me, and I'm glad I got Mike because I need a really good director for this. And I think Mike's a great choice because, in addition to being the president of Fakespeare, he's also a big flaming geek like me, specifically of Simpsons, Family Guy, Adult Swim, and video games.
VIGIL is a black, black Canadian comedy-drama, and if I'm not sick of it after all is said and done I'd still like to direct it with Bimp. He agreed to it a couple years ago, and God how I want to see him in this role. Someday, here's hoping! Meantime, yippee, and here's hoping it all works out.
