So I was very surprised to learn last night that I landed the title role in Marlowe's FAUSTUS (specifically, that I'll be trading off nights with the exceedingly talented [livejournal.com profile] jcsbimp) with the Rude Mechanicals. This is going to prove to be a decidely different role for me, one which shall test and push me, but shall be in a far more supportive and nutruring environment than Studio's sink-or-swim mentality.

Secondly, for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] banquo26, since he liked HULK: THE END so much, here's a supposed link for the entire issue of PUNISHER: THE END. If it doesn't work, well, then come to my comic store and buy a copy of PUNISHER: FROM FIRST TO LAST. It's twenty bucks and trust me, it's worth every bloody penny.

And finally, as promised to [livejournal.com profile] kosher_jenny, here's but a single panel of the gloriousness that is [livejournal.com profile] evandorkin's comic series DORK! (imagine Jhonen Vasquez for comic and sci-fi nerds, current and reformed, rather than goth/punk/HotTopicers)

title or description

Oh, and one last thing. In his new book BAMBI VS. GODZILLA (not to be confused with the timeless animation classic), David Mamet has reportedly proclaimed at one point, "THE GODFATHER, A PLACE IN THE SUN, DODSWORTH, GALAXY QUEST—these are perfect films."

Wow. Now I'm interested in reading his book just for that line alone.

Congrats on FAUSTUS! Speaking of perfect films, if you're going to be in FAUSTUS, it's the perfect excuse to watch Cradle Will Rock if you haven't seen it.

It is one of the only films that didn't get great reviews that I truly believe was just too *good* to get them. I think a lot of reviewers went into expecting to see a film about teh ebil gubment and were shocked to find a hilarious comedy about a three-way collision between art, money, and the 1930's.

I do need to see this anyway (least of all for Angus MacFayden playing Orson Welles!!!), but what's the FAUSTUS connection? Or should I just see it for myself?

Let's just say FAUSTUS puts in a nice cameo!

/but not a nice Camero, that would just be odd

I's intrigued.

(I like how we're just doing the BIG CAPITAL LETTERS together, here)
