So I saw Carolyn (the super-hot Miss Fitness Universe winner) at the gym today, and took the rare opportunity to pimp THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES.

Me: I'm doing a one-man show.

Carolyn: Cool! Who wrote it?

Me: I did!

Carolyn: Oh?

Me: Yeah. It's autobiographical stories, things like that.

Carolyn: Hey, very cool.

(pause)

Me: Don't worry, it's not just me wanking for an hou--

Carolyn: Oh thank God!

Yes, that's another negative expectation I'm gonna have to overcome. I've gotten this far with people who've read the book and the show to be fairly certain that THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES are not just about wankery, but I'm still neurotic about it. Most folks haven't even heard or read the stories for a year or two, and they've come a long way since then. I've come a long way since then.

Remember folks! Come see the show and let me know if I have successfully managed to avoid self-indulgent wankery!

Oh, and so the Sci-Fi Channel has posted the teaser trailer for the new FLASH GORDON TV show. Normally, I wouldn't care, but that trailer gave me a total geek rush. See if you can guess why.

All I'm saying is, even though I don't give a crap about a new FLASH GORDON show aside from the Alex Raymond cred, I will instantly watch the entire season if they use the theme music:

God, that video's even better than the song alone.

Ah haha, I totally have that song on my iPod. Oh, Freddie Mercury. Boothe gets really excited whenever it plays when I put the pod on shuffle. It's the little things. :-)

Today was the first time I'd heard it in about eight years. I'd forgotten how much it roxors my soxors.

Plus, it makes me feel as though, even though I haven't seen the Flash movie, I don't need to (though I probably will). Because they sum the whole darn thing up in song form. And anything involving Freddie makes me squee.

Ooooh. I had forgotten about that song. Man. Must try to forget the 90s cartoon. *scrubs brain*

Oh Hef....that is a classic!!!

That is truly a great song, wonder if we brits will get the Flash series (and I did get excited cos i thought someone was doing a speedster tv show, then I was sad, then I heard the music and I was instantly happy again!!)
True story this. I was a wee boy in the big cioty trying to buy something for my dads xmas and due to Lennon's Imagine (my first choice) selling out, I bought what I though he would like. That was the single (remember them 7 inches of plastic fun...!).
My dad hates Queen
he gave me the single cos I was 8 and he didnt want to upset me
I still have it
I am going to play it tonight, pops and hisses and all the joy of vinyl!!

*I* thought it was funny. Hehehe.

Queen rules. They always will. Damn straight.

I dare say, that's the most novel argument against wankery that I've ever heard.

Wait, what? Did I say that somewhere and I just can't find it?

Seemed obvious to me. Unless you were making a joke. Or making one now. (Sorry, it's early for me, and I still haven't had coffee...)

I meant the "Someday you might get typecast" line.

And yeah, I was being quite sincere on that negative expectation part! But it was the typecast part I was curious about.

FINALLY!

Even though Rachel has never heard this song, for the last three years she has taken my lead and sings "SPLASH! AH-AHH!" to Stephen whenever he takes a bath so he knows the water is about to be poured on his head. Now both can marvel in the magnificence!
