Baltimore Plotting and Planning
Nov. 23rd, 2007 05:30 pmI just got 50 posters and 300 postcard fliers for THE HEFNER MONOLOGUES in the mail today from the printer. You were right,
dryponder, they do downright awesome work. May FedEx/Kinkos forever burn in recyclable hell.
The question now becomes where in Baltimore to pass them out?
My boss said the general Fell's Point area is great,
themadhatter26 suggested a few around Johns Hopkins campus, and personally, I'm thinking about hitting up our old friends at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club to see if they'd be willing to hang a poster. Just for the... well, does that count as irony?
I think my demographic is pretty much college to... what, mid 40's? We're still feeling this out, considering that some people seem to think my show consists of "frat boy humor." It still boggles the mind.
Any other ideas, Baltimore folks?
Still no word back from the Baltimore Sun or CityPaper, but hopefuly I'll at least get calendar listings. Wonder if I should look into ads? Even if it's not too late, do I really wanna splurge for that, just for two performances in a smallish venue? Probably not. Still, I'd like to try to get attention: there'll be very little competition, as it's a dead time of season, and I'd like to take advantage of that as best as possible.
That said, the wonderful Laura Greenback is gonna be giving me a full writeup in B-More Live, so that'll hopefully help.
If you can make it out, Monday December 10th and Tuesday December 11th, please do! The venue's awesome! I'm totally psyched!

Date: 2007-11-23 11:07 pm (UTC)I keep hearing there are excellent ways to utilize the latter, and perhaps both, for networking and publicity (beyond just notifying the friends we already have), but I don't quite know how.

Date: 2007-11-25 10:47 pm (UTC)Also, any college campus within 20 miles of Baltimore is fair game and a good place to start with the posters.

Date: 2007-11-24 12:21 am (UTC)Also a must is the Inner Harbor, duh. Likewise Area 405.
Last, but certainly not least, are the libraries. The Enoch Pratt Library System is surprisingly active--and spread out.

Date: 2007-11-24 04:00 am (UTC)Fells Point, definitely. Inner Harbor, maybe. But this is a small venue nearish Timonium, so I'm tempted to advertise more around that area. I'm not certain what my focus should be. Also, there are a couple colleges around there too, yes?

Date: 2007-11-24 04:56 pm (UTC)Well, I know what I'll be making when Edd comes back to town and wants drinks!
(who's the asshat who's favorite drinks are "beer" and "gin and tonic?" What an asshat.)

Date: 2007-11-24 01:53 am (UTC)Maybe Canton and Federal Hill, but their younger crowd is kinda bar-hopping yuppies, but could lead to a few places.
I'll let you know if I think of any place else!
When are you going in to pass them out? I can check in with my editor, her husband runs the new gelato place in Fells Point, could ask her to ask him to put up a poster.

Date: 2007-11-24 03:48 am (UTC)Please do ask about the gelato place, that could be great!
I'm starting to worry that 50 posters might not be enough... hopefully 300 postcards should still be more than enough!
