So the Project: Rooftop Costume Contest prizes have been released.

Hey [livejournal.com profile] dhairya, look what I should be getting in the mail soon:

Drawing by Ben Hatke.

Pretty damn sweet. This could be the start of a new trend at conventions, getting drawings of our redesigns of these characters. Although I confess, I am sad that certain details were missed, but part of that is certainly due to the quality of the photos.

But those are all kinks we'll work out when we do Two-Face/Typhoid Mary photos ver. 2.0. I'm already hard at work, and rather sore in the process. Why, I've already started up the raw egg whites again (the pasteurized carton kind, don't worry).

And in the meantime, I've already started plotting and planning next year's contest. My ex-girlfriend Misty (soon to be Mrs. Tom Clancy Jr.) very much wants in, and the thought of a costume threesome, of sorts... well, with the help of [livejournal.com profile] spacechild, we've come up with a thoroughly inspired plan. Involving two birds and a beetle, if you catch my drift.

Blue Beetle, Fire, and Ice?

Close. Blue Beetle, Black Canary, and Oracle. Birds of Prey.

By way of... 70's grindhouse sexploitation, the Avengers TV show, and Dr. Who (are what I'm envisioning at this point... I still need to run this by Misty and J.)

That sounds great.

BC's actually on my list of potential Halloween costumes for next year.

Aye, the whole pillbox-hat-with-red-feathers-and-veil was sadly lost.

Congratulations. Actually, looking at the others, I think you got ripped. Yours was more innovative than the others. And better executed. I think it was just a little too raw, which is a risk when you go with the bad guys rather than the good guys.

Hey, thankya, man!

How do you mean by rawness? Will this be something that a session with a professional photographer might rectify, or do you mean something else?

Not the photography. I mean that your makeup looked pretty nasty. It was exactly the effect you want, but it meant that you presented a less pretty picture. It was SUPPOSED to be a less pretty picture.

But you'll notice that none of the other winners on the page were bad guys. I think anybody else who looked violent, eerie, or mean got rated even lower. It was only the sheer coolness of your design, and the possibility of boobs, that got you as high as you did.

I dunno if that means you should ramp it down next year, or hope that next years' judges recognize cool when they see it and rate it more highly than their stomachs.

Hey, as you said, that was exactly the effect I wanted, so I'm more than content. Heck with the professional pictures, we'll hopefully get better resolution on the tendons and exposed tissue and whatnot, while also upping the sex appeal in the rest of the pics. Such thoughts honestly do keep me hitting the gym.

But yeah, I agree, which is why my ideas for next year will, I believe, be far more in tune with the general sensibilities of that site. We'll see if it pulls together. Heh, if nothing else, I can't imagine any other character quite as nasty-looking to pull off. My new idea is still dapper, but far more upbeat, fun, and with twice the boobs.

Cool! I'd love to see your Blue Beetle-- are you doing a Ted or a Jaime?

Ted! He's my favorite, and besides, it's for a Birds of Prey threesome pic (ideally, assuming I can get Misty to come down here to be my Black Canary).

If you win again next year, I want producer credit.

In fact, I've decided that from now on, I want arbitrary producer credit on everything you do.

And I'll tell you something else, bucko..

I have no good reason for it at all.

How you like them apples?
