Exhausted. Write about Saturday later. For now, I'm just gonna congeal in my chair, read EARTH ABIDES by George R. Stewart, watch THE KING OF KONG, and cobble a few bits and pieces for LJ here:

Legendary movie poster artist John Alvin has passed away. Click on that link to see just how many famous posters this guy painted. I didn't realize until I read this that this was the man responsible for some of the greatest Disney posters ever, and even from an early age I lamented that the final home video box art didn't carry the original poster designs.

In this age of "let's just Photoshop giant floating heads of our actors," Alvin represented a finer and more iconic era of Hollywood marketing. A true loss for movie lovers.

Anyone else watching BREAKING BAD on AMC? The first episode was intriguing. The second episode had two or three moments of utter excellence that have gaurenteed my continued interest. Brian Cranston may finally get his long-overdue appreciation after being forever overlooked by the Emmys for MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE. Plus, the show's by my favorite X-Files writer, Vince "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" Gilligan.

Finally, I hear this is making the rounds, but just in case you haven't seen the Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon video... oh sweet lord, yes, please do so now:

I'm really enjoying Breaking Bad--the scene at the end of episode 2 where he explains what HF acid does had me sold on the show. Looking forward to it tonight.

Absolutely! That was one of those moments that totally won me over. That, and the various things he slid over to Crazy Eight (jug of water... another jug of water... plate with sandwich... bucket... toilet paper... AND hand sanitizer!)
