IRON MAN.

I'm gonna withhold further comments until more people see it, and until I see it at least once more. But for right now, I'm simply gonna say this:

Hell. Yes. Just might be up there with BATMAN BEGINS, SPIDER-MAN 2 and X2. One of the best superhero films ever.

With a 95% positive review rating on rottentomatoes.com, I feel confident recommending it to most anybody here. You don't need to be a geek; it's Robert Downey Jr, what more do you need?

Also: stick around after the credits. Take it from me, I cannot stress this enough. Stay after the credits.

In short. IRON MAN. Go. Go now.

As a bonus, they also had the new trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT. I'd already seen this bootlegged earlier this week, and you know what? I was still on the edge of my seat, jaw open, stunned. When the trailer hits the internet this Sunday, I will be watching it about five times in a row. Harvey's line at the end, that alone... tear my heart out, man.

WAS IT AWESOME? NO SPOILERS, BUT WAS IT AWESOME? I trust you, Heffie. Was RDJ? I wanted it to be BETTER than Spider-Man 2 and X2. FAR BETTER.

You might have a couple issues in terms of the terrorists themselves (some might see it as the usual "brown people=bad" movie trope) but the utter awesomeness of the acting, writing, effects, and direction pretty well overwhelm such qualms.

You're far more a classic Marvel girl than I am (which is saying something, as even DC boy that I am, I find myself being the default "classic Marvel guy" among my friends), so I can't tell you objectively if RDJ really captured Tony. But I can say that's a pretty safe fucking bet. Wow.

But "FAR better"? That I can't say. Time will tell, I suppose, with multiple viewings. But I have to say, more than either of them, this felt like a Marvel movie, not a stand-alone dealie but the first true step to creating the Marvel Universe on film.
