Interview with the author of TWO-FACE YEAR ONE.

Hurmm.

Well, it's a unique take, that's for sure. Hell, I'm interested to see what they do. Plus, I can take personal comfort in the knowledge that it's such a distinctly different take that it won't infringe on the story I'm trying to tell.*

(Nitpicks: "Vernon Welles" from THE LONG HALLOWEEN? It's ADRIAN fucking FIELDS, who was pointlessly renamed "Vernon Fields" for LH, which also similarly pointlessly changed Vincent Moroni to Salvatore Maroni. What the fuck, Loeb. Does this make you feel like you're really telling your "own" story here?)

Also, the cover for issue 2 is far, far superior than the sketchy photoshop crap of the first, which has to just be a placeholder based on this new artwork. THAT'S the Mark Chiarello I remember.

Additionally, Harvey's showing up in the new issue of NIGHTWING: A “Batman: R.I.P.” tie-in! Two-Face hits New York City " but when he takes a bite out of the Big Apple, he finds it rotten to the core. He’ll make Nightwing and all of New York pay for their crimes…unless Nightwing can save one of Harvey Dent’s old flames from an assassin’s bullet!

Holy hell, does this mean Gilda's back? How many other "old flames" does Harvey have?

Damn it, all I want to do is write the novel. I'm down here in Orlando with the wife, but things like this just tempt me more and more to spend a bit of afternoon delight with my hot, hot mistress.

Some might say it's a doomed affair, and to slip out of the metaphor, it's becoming increasingly apparent that the Harvey Dent novel will never be published by DC. At least, not in the near future, and not in its ideal form. Some manner of artistic compromise would be required, that's for damn certain. So either I figure out a way to compromise it, or I let the full work exist and breathe as a webcomic (well, mixture of prose, illustration, and comic).

As long as it gets made and people read the story. That's all that matters. That, and not getting sued by DC.
