Holy bejabbers, Kate Beaton AND Neil Gaiman are gonna be at my old alma mater Washington College this April 25-27?!

Maybe I'll drive up for one, spend a day at the house in Rehoboth Beach, then drive down to catch the other one. If tickets are still available.

I almost feel ashamed to enjoy Kate Beaton, because I feel like the last goddamn person to discover how awesome she is. Like I'm a poseur or something. But to see her at WAC, wow, that'd be magnificent. I wonder if I can talk her into a Harvey Dent drawing...? /one track mind

Shit, maybe I'll just take the minivan, go drinking with some professors, and sleep in the quad parking lot. I'm sure I wouldn't be the first to do so!

WAC. Man, I never thought I'd go back.

Well, I know you're not the last as I hadn't even heard about her until I ready your post.

I am such a bad Gaiman stalker. I missed him at the Nat'l Book Festival (in favor of the Baltimore ComicCon of all things), and I have friends coming in from out-of-state that weekend, so I'll have to miss him again. Excuse me while I shuffle off and weep now...

Ahh! Neil Gaiman!

You need to go meet him. He's lovely. I went to a reading and signing of Coraline. There was about 200 people there & he signed his name & personalised every book with a drawing. (I got a wee mouse). He was there for about 4 hours doing it; he's such a patient, kind man.

He's lovely indeed. I've met him before, and oh, his live readings are delightful. I just wish I knew what to say to him. I hate meeting celebrities, as I'd much rather just relax and have a beer with them. Talk with them, not to them, y'know?
