Posted for all the Pope fans out there. I confess, I'm not really one myself. It's not that I don't dislike his art (although it's a wee bit off-puttingly hipsterish in style), but I don't quite understand the sometimes-slavish obsession I'd see from some customers at the comic shop.

I mean, Pope's great, but if you want to know which modern comic master *I* slavishly adore along with everyone else? I'll tell you straight:

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Pope's art. I hate it. I can't even tell you. Augh, and his Batman. Good God.

But I am obviously beyond excited for The Hunter. (I say obviously under the pretentious assumption that you know what I enjoy).

While I don't hate it, it's kinda incredibly refreshing to find someone who does! Just as a sheer antidote to the slavish obsession!

Why, just yesterday on I!Scans_Daily, I met someone who hated Tim Sale's art! Yes, I imagine that would warrant a heart attack from you, and I rather like his art a great deal myself, but it was kind of refreshing nonetheless in a really weird way!

I can't stand it! It's just so...ugly. And bumpy and irritating. I remember when I first came upon it I was wondering which horrible college art show I had purchased this comic book from.

I find Tim Sale's art super divisive. And I actually didn't like it at first, but I found that exposure made me 'get' what he was doing as opposed to sticking with my original "Bruce Wayne looks like a goddamn monkey" sentiment.

Frankly, I'm amazed Pope doesn't share Sale's divisiveness with more people, for all the reasons you bring up.

hahahaha, oh wow, Sale's Bruce (and his Two-Face, it occurs to me) sometimes DOES look like a monkey!

Which reminds me, how goes your Catwoman costume?

Against my better judgment, I'm trying to seriously figure out how I might be able to create a costume of Harvey as a member of the Red and Blue (or Green? Urgh, I'm torn!) Lantern Corps. Do it for a photo shoot, where I can also finally do spiffed-up versions of Two-Face and Typhoid Mary.

My Catwoman costume is currently stalled as I await confirmation of my SDCC pro-passes, because if I don't get them, I won't be able to do the show on Saturday and my anguish will be such that I will...I don't know. I'll do something. I will. Maybe cry. I don't know how this affects my Catwoman costume, but I feel like I should wait. I sent in a bunch of proof that I AM a creative pro, but I'm just so scared. They've had my application about 10 days now, but they haven't even started going through the April submissions. :( I really really need a pass.

I think this is a good plan and I think you should go for it. Red and Green is best, I think. Red and Blue might seem too...something. My words and explanations are failing me right now. But do it. And the Two-Face and TM is going to be even keener than the last.

Also, I'm going to Vegas after SDCC! Right after! The next day!

Dear lord, that'd be like canceling Christmas!!! *Professor X-es good vibes to ComicCon peeps to speed your application process*

You think Green is best? I fear for looking like Christmas Two-Face, and that blue would work better for me personally. If you figure out what Red and Blue might seem too much of, let me know.

The part that really gets me giddy is the thought of strategically inserting glo-sticks in the crevices between the two warring sides of my costume.

I surely hope it'll be even keener! The new makeup effects I'm planning, if I can even pull it off, will take two hours to apply at least. I'm also thinking about working a wig with this one. Plus I'll need to work out my upper body! Urgh, exercise!

Egad! Well, when you do get in (see? Positive thinking!), make sure you get from me the names of must-go places in Vegas, particularly the best Thai restaurant in North America, ingloriously hidden behind a strip mall!
