Blackest Night # 1
Jul. 15th, 2009 06:09 pm"The Blackest Night" #1 was... um...
...
Oh god, I don't think I even want to see the fallout on scans_daily.
Y'know what? I'm just gonna wait and see where Johns is going with this. I want to believe Bart's line about the statues is where this story is ultimately going. That by the end of this story, many--if not all--dead characters will come back to life. Including the ones who die in the story. For one thing, I guarantee we'll have Aquaman back by the end. I doubt he'll be the only one. He'd better not be. I really, really want to enjoy this story, and I have the jelly beans to prove it.
But this first issue... hurrm...
I'll stick with "Wednesday Comics" #2 for now. It should make prime reading material while I wait to do my first show in an hour. Even before opening night, all I can think about is comics.

Date: 2009-07-16 09:35 pm (UTC)And then I got frightened by Ralphs' nose. I think this might have to go in the airing cupboard alongside "Arkham Asylum: Living Hell", and Stephen Kings' "Pet Semetary". (The airing cupboard is where I keep the terrifying books)
I liked the Tales of the Corps backup a great deal more, though Geoff Johns has awful funny ideas about compassion (was expecting that though).

Date: 2009-07-23 11:12 pm (UTC)After the little I've seen of the Red Lanterns (and Ruffles is awesome) I was disappointed by the 28 Days Later rip off (apparently a conscious decision on the artists part) so I was not surprised by the use of more horror movie cliches. But can't we come with anything more original?
