Well, not exactly. But something pretty damn neat for aspiring screenwriters nonetheless.

http://www.creativescreenwriting.com/ is hosting a contest: write the best thriller script you can think of, and the winner will receive a $500 option on their screenplay (enough to pay their attorney) against a six-figure purchase price with production bonuses, and the winning script will be read by John Carpenter himself.

Carpenter is the man behind the brilliant (and still the scariest movie I've ever seen) "The Thing," the overrated "Haloween," the ridiculously fun "They Live," and recent crap like "Vampires" and "Ghosts of Mars."

Hmm... I wonder if my story of the likeable serial killer is Carpenterian enough for his tastes? It's closer to Crongenburg-like sensibilities at this point ("Spider", for example, not "Videodrome" or "Naked Lunch"). I may have to add a couple more on-screen killings.

I'm scheming. This is my scheming face.
