Politics make my teeth ache. Especially blowhard polticians who incite blowhard citizens to blow even harder. My politics are a mixed bag leaning mainly to the left but not really knowledgeable enough in the issues to officially be declared either way. And while I'm certainly no Bush fan (there is increasingly little gray area in his favor) I think I'm gonna sit Dean's visit out.

'Course, it would be interesting to see what the humbled former front-runner would have to say. Virtually everyone I know here seems to be going to see him. Ah well. I need to get back to work on my serial killer play anyway.

And what's this about your school? Do you have a cartooning type program department thingie? I'm sorry your style's not being appreciated, but hell, it's an underappreciated art form, innit? Sucks, sorry, but you're still pouding out work (and getting better and better each time, too!), so fuck what they have to say, right?

ah, people just worshipped shansby. his stuff's still up at erictoons.com. he got into the post, and was accepted to yale in the blink of an eye, he was the paper's king. He came back once this year to see how we were holding up, complimented my artist partner lincoln for a political cartoon comparing bush and nixon, didn't say a word to me.
they have a school paper at blair that's its pride and joy, and its really a very good paper but I hate being on its staff. They treat art like dirt, give us menial clipart-like jobs, stuff like that, it really pisses me off. ARGH and this rule that 40% of people in comics have to be non-white to 'represent blair's diversity,' a rule they've been using to totally ride my ass. I'll give them a comic and they'll go through and *only* shade the faces in with photoshop, without telling me! And I try to make them look black and asian and such, but its hard to tell because my style's so ambiguous (I do that on purpose, too! If they'd read some scott mccloud they'd fuckin understand!) I gave them one comic, and they said, 'I cant tell if this girl is asian or mexican or black or what' and I said 'does it matter?!' since jeez, shouldn't it be *good* that they cant tell? and they say, 'YES it matters, you have to represent blair's diversity rebecca!' and since then, even when I got promoted to art manager, my boss called me out on being racist in front of the whole fucking staff. If she'd READ my comic she'd know my protagonist is BLACK god fucking dammit. *and* asian. argrrrrgghhhhhh sorry i'm done ranting. arghmfg.
