Dead computer update...
Apr. 14th, 2004 09:09 pmSo Best Buy called us back, and since it was a software problem my warrenty won't cover the damages. Of course. But it is repairable... for a price. They want the recovery discs, which says to me that my files are gone. Poopie.
Now, on one hand, my father is willing to pay the $200+ it will cost to repair the laptop. But the thing is (and this is the other hand, by the way) I can't shake the feeling that it would be a waste of money to try to repair it. I mean, for an analogy, my parents threw a few thousand dollars of repairs into my piece of shit Chrysler before it finally coagulated into a big cool red paperweight.
And although my father is (understandably) loathe to just give up on a year-and-a-half old Compaq that he paid over $1500 for, I just think we're staving off the inevitible and it's gonna be a dead computer again after not too long. It's his money, but it's my guilt.
I shouldn't feel guilty about freely spending the money from him, since I think few will argue he "owes" me for years of being himself... but damn it all, I have a huge, nagging conscience. On top of computer difficulties.
