So Best Buy called us back, and since it was a software problem my warrenty won't cover the damages. Of course. But it is repairable... for a price. They want the recovery discs, which says to me that my files are gone. Poopie.

Now, on one hand, my father is willing to pay the $200+ it will cost to repair the laptop. But the thing is (and this is the other hand, by the way) I can't shake the feeling that it would be a waste of money to try to repair it. I mean, for an analogy, my parents threw a few thousand dollars of repairs into my piece of shit Chrysler before it finally coagulated into a big cool red paperweight.

And although my father is (understandably) loathe to just give up on a year-and-a-half old Compaq that he paid over $1500 for, I just think we're staving off the inevitible and it's gonna be a dead computer again after not too long. It's his money, but it's my guilt.

I shouldn't feel guilty about freely spending the money from him, since I think few will argue he "owes" me for years of being himself... but damn it all, I have a huge, nagging conscience. On top of computer difficulties.

They want $200 to run the recovery programs? If you have the disks you can do it yourself for free. You put in the disk and follow the directions.

It's for virus-repair stuff, since apparently my laptop was ravaged with the buggers.

No surprise. But the recovery disks usually wipe the system anyway, which cures the viruses in much the same sense that cutting your head off cures the common cold. Effective, but give it to Sean and he'll do it a lot cheaper than they will.

Sorry, I should have spoken sooner.

Seriously, bring it to me.

Never allow "the company" to screw you for money when you can get a miracle from a friend like me. I normally don't make this kind of offer for fear of never having any free time.

Bring it to rehearsal if you can, I'll try to recover the actual data over the weekend, I can at least give you that, and THEN you can let Beast Boyz bend you like Beckham.

Basically, the $200 is for virus-related software fuck-ups, that's what they're saying they're gonna fix. Shall I give it to you anyway? I shan't be in for rehearsal for at least another week and a half.

Will do, when I get it back. I'll try to be back the week of April 26th, so hopefully I'll be able to get the comp to you. Much appreciated, man.
