Henchgirl just woke up (we tend to fall asleep by the first lights of morning), and the first thing she said was, "John... promise me something."

"What?"

"Promise me that... if there's ever a zombie apocalypse... and you find zombified Ty Templeton, and he's not all the way gone yet... don't bring him home so he can sign all your comics and we can kill him mercifully afterward."

"Aw, not even to have him draw me a Two-Face sketch?"

"I can't really judge, because when I saw almost-but-not-quite-zombified Ty Templeton, I hugged him. And he was totally cool about it too. 'Yeah, sure, I'll sign all your comics, totally, just put a bullet in my head when I'm done!'"

"... yeah, I make no promises."

I keep glancing back and forth at the clusterfuck. FWIW, I'm glad you tried, man. Every time we go to the mall and see the SCOTT PILGRIM posters or go into Hot Topic, we just come away with a renewed sense of disappointment, anger, and frustration at the geek appropriation happening all around us.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I was worried it would come to that, but I hoped it'd have been otherwise. Not surprised, just disappointed. Actually, no, I'm also puzzled and frustrated. I mean, why? From what I saw, you actually apologized for the one thing that would have been considered a breach of rules or whatever, and everything else just came down to disagreement!

I also called hipsters a "cancer," which I didn't think was out of line on a comm that talks about the unpleasant acts they'd like to perform on certain comic creators, but when more than one mod hails from Toronto (and, oops, maybe I shouldn't have banned every single mod on that comm from posting in my LJ months ago, heh heh), then yeah, it's not a good idea to pick on their pet franchise.

I have no words. Henchgirl, meanwhile, is "like, 'throwing things angry' right now." She's completely done with scans_daily and noscans_daily alike.

... I mean... really? Somebody, anybody, has a problem with hating hipsters? I thought hating hipsters was embraced by everybody! Even hipsters, who do it ironically, or some shit!

I thought I was deluded by my own self-centered martyr complex, but underlankers and neo_prodigy both actually shared my impression that the folks in that post were riding my ass simply out of a deep-seated personal hatred for me, which I suppose makes sense with regards to the mods, since I'm literally the only person in Scans who got banned, UNbanned, and actually managed to embarrass the mods BOTH times in the process, first because they banned me for calling out another poster's racism, then because they had to admit they were WRONG to ban me in the first place.

In retrospect, I was living on borrowed time there for quite a while.

In fact, in the furor that erupted after that racefail, more than a few posters actually said that they disliked me even more precisely because they agreed with the reasons for my nerdrage in that instance, and they resented that I'd put them into the position of being forced to defend me, which gave me SO much spiteful pleasure.

Don't be too hard on black13 - while he's generally left-leaning, as a German, he finds a lot of my concerns with "privilege" to be kind of bullshit, and when he gets in a foul mood, his personality takes a turn for the Gruber.

You insinuatin' that she doesn't really exist? ;p She's not been around much, but that's only been the case for the last couple weeks, as we're in the midst of doing (and preparing to do) shows for theater festivals. Once things calm down, and once we can have decent internet connection wherever we all, I anticipate a glorious return to the interwebs!
