If it weren't for the tracking on LJ's "Recent Comments" page, I wouldn't have realized that it's been over a week since I've posted to LJ. Well, to [livejournal.com profile] thehefner, at least.

I've posted a couple times to [livejournal.com profile] about_faces, including my epic and long-in-the-works look at the very first Two-Face story, the Harvey Kent trilogy, complete with assloads of scans. I was actually amazed, upon revisiting the story, just how powerful and compelling it was for a Golden Age Batman comic:

Of course, the downside to doing posts like this is that it's hard getting people to care. But then, that's to be expected.

I knew doing [livejournal.com profile] about_faces would be a labor of love, and I always wondered how long it would take before I'd get too depressed by everyone else's lack of interest to keep going on. But I've learned that as long as I get at least one good, insightful comment per entry, that's enough to make me feel like I haven't wasted the hours scanning, cropping, researching, writing, and geeking out for each entry.

It's a good thing, too, because now that I finally have the free time between now and Wilmington Fringe at the very end of September (only a two-and-a-half hour drive from DC, my DC peeps!), all I wanna do is write Two-Face geekery stuff for [livejournal.com profile] about_faces. Actual creative writing for fiction and shows can come later. For now, just pure geek-joy spewing, that's all I want!

But who knows how much of even that I'll be able to muster. Maybe the very best thing to do is rest up, relax, and recharge by reading a ton, watching movies, and replenishing the well after the utter madness that was putting together THE ROAD TO NOWHERE. Hell, with Wilmington coming up, we'll have to go right back, to implement whatever changes we've learned from Indy to work them into our three-day weekend performance for the Delawarians.

Argh, I shouldn't be trying to think about such things at nearly 4:00am. I can't sleep. But then again, I don't really wanna read the ADVENUTRES OF FORD FAIRLANE prequel comic from 1990 (one of several dozen dollar bin finds I've acquired recently) either.

Yes, this monstrosity actually exists. And it's mind, all mine, ahahahaha.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll actually post something thoughtful or interesting about our Indy adventure. Or maybe I'll just copy-paste bits of [livejournal.com profile] bitemetechie's recounts.

By the way, I'm not sure I have any reason to NOT want to be cross-posted to Twitter or Facebook or anything. Well, with [livejournal.com profile] about_faces, at least. I'd like more attention there. But if everyone's feverishly against it, perhaps I should be wary as well. More to ponder after sleepy sleep time comes.

EDIT: ... aaaaaand I instantly received a ping-bot notification that "thehefner" references [livejournal.com profile] about_faces. Huh. That's unsettling and new.

DC did this? Huh. Then again, for a while, they were rivaling Marvel in the tie-ins-to-other-media comics (check out DC's adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), back during a time when Marvel still had balls enough to publish the Hellraiser tie-in comic as an ongoing series.

There's only one thing to say to this:
"Unbelievable!"

When you were purchasing it, did the vendor warn you that you were ten seconds away from making the biggest mistake of your life?

Here's the FAQ entry on pingbacks, including info on how to disable it: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=293

With the Facebook/Twitter thing, it's not that I post a whole lot on LJ that I wouldn't want the "real world" folks to see...it's more the principle that comments to protected entries are fair game. And I get that some people's real lives and fandom lives don't really intersect. Anyway, from reading a few of the comments to the news post (there are 108 pages of them), it looks like virtually everyone is opposed to the idea. So maybe they'll set up opt-out features soon? *crosses fingers*

John, how could you not be excited to read the comic book prequel to the adventures of ford fairlane? That is not a human emotion.

Well, I read your Two-Face posts every now and then even if I don't comment. It certainly did alter my perception of the character.
