1.) League of Washington Theater auditions were today, and, well... I've been better. I ended up choosing my "that bitch" monologue from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I'm still not sure was the best choice but whatever. It was an intimidating experience, and it gave me plenty to prepare for next year when I do it again. And in any case, it was great to see [livejournal.com profile] cavenessity there as well.

2.) Head shots were taken on Monday, and once I'll put some choice ones up here as soon as I can figure out how, exactly. And hey, [livejournal.com profile] spacechild! he suggested I go to Chiroscuro some night and that you introduce me to a girl named Jen.

3.) I'm gonna hit Backstage sometime, which apparently is a really kick-ass theater costume store. I need to find me someplace to get Victorian duds for a little personal project. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

4.) Cyrano at the Shakespeare Theater was pretty damn awesome. Perhaps because this was the first version I've ever seen on stage, but this one really seemed to up the humor, which I liked. The Forever Knight vampire cop was very, very good, and I loved his Cyrano in everything except for the very end, I didn't care for that interpretation. Andrew Long ROCKED as Guiche and David Sabin was of course wonderful as Rageneau. I rather liked this translation for the most part, but Anthony Burgess' was noticibly stronger in parts for me.

5.) Val came down to see the show and she crashed at my place. I took her back to Union Station, an hour before he train arrived. So to pass the time, we went into the bookstore, found the Shakespeare section, and in the middle of the store, at full volume, we read the Richard and Anne scene. Oh! That was so fucking cool. Now tell me that's not an awesome way to end a date, seriously, try. I'm gonna see if I can't entice her to come down mid-July sometime to go hit the DC museums with me. I was going to go do that with someone else, but, well... I don't think that'll be happening, sadly.

Which reminds me...

6.) Happy Birthday.

Ooo, where's Backstage? Be good to have access to a good theatrical costume shop for the Rudes.

This is the store on Capitol South, right? The one that's down the block from the Shakespeare Theatre's rehearsal hall? Sells scripts, accent tapes and CDs, and such along with costumes?

Ty says it is the same one. Cool. If you decide to hit the store on a sunny Saturday afternoon, let me know. I'll join you there. I need to pick up a few more scripts. There are also some good restaurants in the area, having experienced them with the Acting I and II classes.

The first year is always the hardest. You got through it, and I'm sure you did fine. Go you :)

I saw Cyrano last night. Act V just worked for me. I was in tears the moment Cyrano stepped on stage, and for the last ten minutes I was fighting hard to keep from sobbing out loud. Really.
