I need a bit of help with a project I'm working on. Can anyone here tell me which Tarot cards would or could hold significance/meaning/interpretations for the following:

History- The past, what has gone on before and how it might/will affect the present/future.

Motivation- A deal, proposal

Truth- pulling away the veil

Trust- between friends, possible betrayal, unions and the possibility of breaking them

Any help in this endeavor would be much appreciated. Thankee!

History: The Hierophant is most helpful/auspicious in this regard, as is the Pentacles suit as a whole. Hierophant is concerned with the preservation (and sometimes veneration) of tradition and history, and pentacles have to do with physical objects, which include recorded data, which is what history is, essentially. But also Swords harmonize with history, being symbolic of the mental energy connecting disparate events with meaning. The World or The Universe is also significant in historical ways, since the object depicted is Very Old Indeed. And changing historical perspective can be seen in both The Chariot and THe Wheel.

Motivation: Wands. Pentacles are okay, too, if this is motivation toward gain. Trumps appropriate are The Fool, for motivation from unexpected sources, The Magus, for motivation with expertise, The Chariot, which is motion/motivation objectified. But there are two good motivation trumps that may not seem so good when they come up: Death, which is change motivating you to act, and The Tower, which is the same thing to a more extreme extent: It is motivation on the degree of a burning boat. You must jump into uncertain waters or perish.

Truth: Hierophant, again, holds ancient truth. The High Priestess reveals inner truth. The Moon holds reflected, possibly illusory truth. THe Sun holds purifying, direct truth. Justice/Adjustment balances opposites and produces truth. The suit of Wands burns away lies by its fiery nature, and can thus leave truth behind.

Trust: The Lovers, obviously, but also Justice/Adjustment, since trust is a balancing operation. The Empress, symbolizing the Mother of us all . . . which leads to the entire suit of Pentacles. Cups are also symbolic of the deep, emotional reliance of the child for its mother . . . cups symbolize the womb, after all.

And I thank you, most sincerely. You'll get a prominent acknowledgement in my book for this, rest assured.

For betrayal of trust, the classic card is the three of swords. If you find that in a spread, it tends to mean your lover is about to abandon you. Can also mean the betrayal of a friend.
