thehefner: (Question Everything)

'Cause people're always asking me, "What's it all about, Heffie?"

How does a supposedly "good" German, the literature professor John Halder,
whose best friend is a Jew, willingly become a part of the final solution
at Auschwitz? Halder is also struggling to make sense out of his
domestic and academic life- all to the accompaniment of a musical score
that he and the audience hears as it loops in his head whenever he is in
psychic distress. C. P. Taylor's Good examines Halder's life as the
professor all too willingly abnegates his moral courage. Taylor calls his
play a tragedy, but it is also a play with music and a biting satirical
black comedy. The Royal National Theatre hails it as one of the most
significant 100 plays of the twentieth century.

As part of their senior performance thesis John Hefner portrays Halder and
Siobhan O Connor is his mistress, Anne. Others in the cast include senior
Matt Biringer as Maurice; senior Heather Martin as Halder's mother; senior
John Beck as Eichman; sophomore Liam Daley as an SS Major; sophomore Rachel
Loose as Halder's wife, Helen; first year Philip Doccolo as a doctor;
first year Julianna Schottler as a nun, and graduate Michael Mooe as Hitler.

Performances are September 30, October 1, and October 2 at eight o'clock
in Tawes Theater. Seating is in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults
and $3 for students.
