As noted elsewhere, RIP Frank Gorshin. Not only was he the perfect live-action Riddler, but I had the distinct pleasure of seeing his one-man show about George Burns, "Say Goodnight, Gracie." I was the youngest person in the audience by thirty years, it was great.

In other news, Kelsey Grammer is gonna be playing Dr. Hank McCoy, everyone's favorite ever-lovin' blue-eyed (or cat-eyed, depending on the mutation) Beast, in X-MEN 3. Chud.com thinks this is odd casting, but personally, I think it's perfect. I think we can all imagine Sideshow Frasier utter the line "fascinating."

In even more completely unrelated news, I just wept-- twice-- to the latest issue of I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. For such a silly, fun series, this story has had more heart than most of the current dark, "Crisis"-esque books that seem to mistake cheap shock value and killing off beloved characters as good storytelling.

It was, in fact, good to see Gorshin and Newmar back together with West and Ward for "Return to the Batcave," even though star power was it's ONLY redeeming quality. I'll definitely miss the guy I used to do impressions of in second grade. Even though my voice would not change for a few years, they said I got the laugh. The thing is, it's hard to do a good Gorshin Riddler without myself getting all apoplectic. That whole face-spazz thing during the laugh... tough to do for a long time, I admired his energy level.

He's one of those amazing performers... apparently, Sammy Davis Jr. learned how to do impressions from Gorshin. A shame we never did see more of his work beyond Riddler.
