I'm seeing a sneak preview of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND tonight. For the longest time, I genuinely truly did not want to like it. I have been following the troubled production of this film from the very beginning, and have been preparing myself with the lowest expectations possible. Which is to say, I'm expecting it to blow. Blow great big floppy donkey dick. If you've been following the movie's production as well, chances are you know why and agree.

That's not fair, of course. In the past couple days, I've shifted up to a more cautious approach. If I like it, I promise you, no amount of "not wanting to enjoy it" will keep me from realizing it was good. Preconceived notions have never overrun true quality when it comes to me.

I will of course post my review here either tonight or tomorrow, for those that are interested. One spoiler-free and one spoiler-heavy.

In other news, I am mightily intrigued by [livejournal.com profile] pondering_duck's idea that I should dress up as Wolverine and tape sporks to my knuckles. After all, I've already been Beast. I really do somehow need to photoshop my face and hands blue there.

Hee! Yeah, a little Photoshop would go a long way...

That entry still makes me giggle.

Anyway, the movie. Yeah. Is there any doubt that it's going to suck big time? I don't even think the magic of McKellen (which I just made up) can save it. I hoped that the film series would have ended on a high note. *sigh* At least we got two good ones first.

And speaking of comic book movies, I don't think we ever heard your thoughts on the Superman trailer. *hint hint*

The reviews I've read so far have been 2 glowingly ecstatic and 3 "crushingly mediocre and disappointing." But no sucking big time.

It's not a good sign that the big finale should be the *shortest* film the entry. And the one with the most characters. That right there does not bode well. X2 was a very long film, and it needed every last damn second to make it was brilliant as it was.

I didn't do an actual post on my Supes trailer thoughts, but I will sum up by saying--

Kevin Spacey is a brilliant choice, and even though we're getting eeeevil Luthor, Spacey's delivery can make lines that sound campy in someone else's mouth sound *awesome.* We still haven't really heard how Routh sounds as Superman, that part worries me a bit. Bosworth=WRONG. But regardless, it looks fan-frickin'-tastic.

I hope... may, expect to cry like a little fucking girl during this movie.

I saw it two days ago. I thought it was mediocre, but not spectacularly bad. The problems of the two first movies were amplified and underscored here with really bombastic music. Going in with low expectations you might actually enjoy it.

Oh dear. This moviewatching experience shall truly prove interesting, then. Depending on what I think, I might end up quoting you here.

One last check: it's at the Cineplex Odeon Wisconsin Avenue Cinemas, right? 4000 Wisconsin Ave is the address they give. Info given at a party should relly be confirmed, as I am a forgetful little git. Rar.

Aye, that's the very one! I'll be getting there around 6, I imagine. You getting there even earlier for the line might not be a horrid idea. Show's at 7:30!

I imagine the VERY latest we'll be there is 5:30, and that's assuming we get out late (never happens), we don't catch the good trains (never happens), and that there's a random national security threat (oddly enough, more common than the previous two possibilities.) See you there! We'll both have phones on, so if you don't see us right away, give us a call. WOOOOOO!
